Default Can Brodin Stick with the Wild?

Certainly a nice debut for the 1st round 10th over all 2011 pick. The question is, can he make it difficult for the Wild to send him down? Could he in fact out play Spurgeon and the rest of the Wild back end and be a huge surprise? What do you guys think?

He fared very well in his debut. I can see him sticking as Stoner's partner. Not sure if he can out play Spurgeon, I think a lot of that has to do with chemistry with the defensive pairings.

I think he definitely stays....especially after the coaches raving comments after the game. He is probably already the second best dman on the team and most likely Dumba will be returned soon.

.....he played over 4 minutes on the PP and didn't look out of place either. He's going to be a very good one.

Ya Trader, you make a great point about Dumba. Something has to give, is it Brodin or Dumba? I'm thinking Brodin but who knows. Anyone else?

He is definitely making it difficult. Looked in control every time he had the puck and knew what to do with it. Used his body down low pretty well too for being only around 180 lbs.

I actually liked the pairing of Gilbert and Suter together as well, Gilbert was roaming around all over the ice creating chances offensively. Suter is still trying to get his act together, looks lost out there at times.

Idk, it's going to be a tough one for Yeo and company. Don't forget Scandella just returned from his injury and is playing in the AHL right now, so he could return to the lineup soon as well.

I guarantee Brodin will stay over Dumba. Dumba will most likely be returning soon to Red Deer, unless injuries occur but like I said in my other post Scandella should be returning soon too. One of Prosser/Falk might end up on waivers soon if Brodin sticks and Scandella returns, unless they continue to carry 8 D.

Yes. Best drafted d-man prospect in the game.

I thought this thread was about Brodin not Dougie Hamilton?

Well, Dumba has been sent back to Red Deer so that answers that question. So, what now? Is Brodin capable of having fantasy relevance this year? I haven't seen Minny yet this year, and Sutter obviously factors in, but I have always felt that the Wild needed a serious upgrade for a puck moving PP quarterback. Is Spurgeon that type of guy and seriously in Brodin's way? What do you guys think? What might the pairings look like and what type of projection would you make for Brodin? I'm tempted to pick him up, but with the D I have that would be a bit of a gamble I think. However, if there is reason to gamble, I'm not afraid to do so.
