My league? My league rules are in my sig and this is the trade my commish just pulled off...
He gets Jonathan Toews, Matt Duchene, Nathan Horton, Wayne Simmonds, Justin Schultz and Corey Crawford. He gave up Jason Spezza, Alex Burrows, Martin Havlat, Justin Williams, Jason Garrison, Sheldon Souray and Derek Roy. I just do not understand what the team giving up the Toews side benefits from this. This is just 2 weeks after he got Eberle off this same guy for Joe Pavelski and Dan Boyle. Seems pretty lopsided to me... Thoughts?

The guy obviously likes his players a little older?
The trade could be a lot worse, but the dynamics of keeper trades and longterm damages is what ultimately stopped me from doing keeper leagues. I only do one year leagues now. |

It's definitely not that bad. I'd absolutely prefer receiving the Toews side of the deal but it's not like it's Toews for a bag of pucks.

He gets Jonathan Toews, Matt Duchene, Nathan Horton, Wayne Simmonds, Justin Schultz and Corey Crawford.
He gave up Jason Spezza, Alex Burrows, Martin Havlat, Justin Williams, Jason Garrison, Sheldon Souray and Derek Roy. Depends on if the 2nd team is in a win now mode: Toews vs Spezza - Seem close to me Toews being the younger player but Spezza having more skill Duchene is coming off a bad season, Horton has had injury problems, Simmonds value is dependant on who he plays with in the lineup, Schultz is young and youth does not always succeed. On the other side: Burrows plays with the twins and is consistant on what he gets for points. Havlat can put up the points but more often then not is injured. Williams can put up points but more often then not is injured Garrison is coming of a good season and has the potential to put up good points. Souray should put up points for 1 more season. Roy was probably a buy low as he had a poor season. I have seen worse deals I would still take the Toews side but I too have seen worse deals. I again see this as the Spezza side may benefit more now and suffer in 1-2 years.

This is true but it is pretty bad. Not enough to make you quit though.

Quitting is up to the individual. But this is definitely not collusion or tanking.

So I am in this league, but not involved with trade. I got contacted by a few people upset with it. I think this was the basic rationale:
Team A gets: Jonathan Toews, Matt Duchene, Nathan Horton, Wayne Simmonds, Justin Schultz and Corey Crawford. Team B gets: Jason Spezza, Alex Burrows, Martin Havlat, Justin Williams, Jason Garrison, Sheldon Souray and Derek Roy. The draft was a week ago. EVERY player that Team B got was drafted later (and in many cases much later) than the player sent. For example: Justin Schultz was drafted 103 overall, Burrows 109 (a net loss of six picks) Matt Duchene was drafted 123 overall, Havlat 172 (a net loss of 49 picks) Wayne Simmons was drafted at 158 overall, Jason Garrison was drafted at 189 (a net loss of 31 picks) Corey Crawford was drafted at 178 overall, Sheldon Souray was drafted at 192 (a net loss of 14 picks) Nathan Horton was a keeper (keepers are the first 10 rounds), Derek Roy went 209 (a net loss of over 100 picks) Justin Williams was not even drafted and was picked up in the last week as a free agent Jonathan Toews and Jason Spezza were both keepers (although I think most here would prefer Towes) That means that literally ever player that Team B got, he could have drafted himself a week earlier except for Spezza. So I guess the suspicion is, what changed in a week? Ironically, it was the players on Team B that were doing better thus far. So it wassn't even the start of the season. Also, as mentioned it's also a keeper league. Team B gave up Duchene, Shultz, and Towes, who are likely better keepers than anyone he got back (who are all generally at their prime or past it). This despite the fact its actually Team A competing for this year (and not Team B). I think the basic problem is no one can figure out why Team B would make this trade. He got older, worse, and got players he could have easily drafted himself a week earlier. The positions are basically a wash. And because its such a large deal in size, the teams end up swapping a large portion of their rosters. That's what got people upset (also since Team B is a new owner).
