Hey guys, I am looking into acquiring a faceoff-heavy center; like Paul Stastny, in my 10-man keeper league (We are a Head-to-Head league counting G, A, PTS, +/-, FO, SHO, Hits and PPP).
The owner who currently has Stastny is in a great need for Centers (who can put up points, cause he is already solid in all other stats). I really wanted Stastny in our draft but he was picked higher then I was willing to reach for him, so now I'm thinking I may still get my chance through this trade. Now as I said he needs Centers, so I was thinking of offering two centers; Travis Zajac and Sam Gagner, for 1 center; Paul Stastny (which doesn't look like that great a deal but I really need Faceoffs, and my depth at Center is ridiculous). Zajac has been playing pretty well, and so has Sam Gagner for that matter. Whereas Stastny hasn't been putting up huge numbers yet. Is it foolish to think Zajac and Gagner won't keep up their current PPG play; and that Stastny will eventually wake up and start contributing offensively? also; Would Stastny be negatively (TOI decline) or positively (better linemates) affected if O'Reilly came back to Colorado this season? Thanks for the help on this one. ___________________________ 10 team League / Keep 4 + 1D + 6 Farm C- Backstrom, Getzlaf, Benn, Zajac, Gagner, Saku Koivu LW- Nash, Lucic, Perron, Cammalleri RW- Kane, Voracek, Simmonds D- Doughty, Edler, Ekman-Larsson, Goligoski G- Quick, Dubnyk Farm- Zibanejad, Colin Wilson, Backlund, Ennis, Palmieri, Atkinson Last edited by lewis_roy23; 01-25-2013 at 10:06 AM. |

I think Stastny is the better overall skilled-player... but I prefer Zajac (a #1C) in fantasy hockey.
FWIW, I don't own Stastny in any leagues. I'm in 8. |

Thanks Pengwin. I totally agree that Zajac being a #1C adds a lot of value to keeping him on my team, but the counter argument to that is that Stastny actually plays as much as Zajac on a nightly basis, if not more (both have a 20 min of TOI/G). I should also add a fact to this debate; this trade would leave an open roster spot on my team, which would allow me to pick up a RW or D (Hornqvist is still available in my league...).
What does everyone else think? Throw em at me lol |

I also think Zajac. Similar ice time and Stastny is probably the better player. But Zajac is PP1 vs Stastnys PP2, Stastny loses offensive starts and scoring opportunities to Duchene's line, and Zajac plays with Kovalchuk. David Jones and Jamie McGinn have never and will never be Kovy.

I'd keep Zajac as well. Looks like he's returning to his old pre-Achilles ways. I expect he'll mesh well w/ Kovy as he did w/ Parise.
Like Pengwin, I'm not a big Stastny fan. I would think you could get face-offs elsewhere.
