Default Franzen for Brunner

I went against some advice here and kept Brunner over Versteeg because Versteeg was DTD. Watched Brunner and for a guy coming from the KHL...he's got potential as long as he stays with that top line and playing the point on the PP.

He shoots a ton, he's taken some PIMs and I think will take more as he warms up to the NHL.

However, I have been offered Franzen (Johan) which is tempting...very.

Thoughts?

As long as Brunner is on the 1st line I'd rather have him than franzen

Give me Franzen. Since you're in a keep 5 Brunner's youth does him no good.

I'd take Franzen over Brunner considering neither is a keeper. Brunner is on the top line now but that could change tomorrow if things don't click. Franzen is a very proven commodity and his average year is arguably Brunner's upside.

As a side note, Brunner did not play in the KHL, he's always palyed in the Swiss league.

Franzen for me.
Coach Mike Babcock has often paired Z & Datsyuk on the same line to "kickstart" their production. I think Zetterberg will remain tied to Datsyuk, but I think the two superstars will eventually be separated to create two more balanced lines of offense. This will re-increase Franzen's value and decrease Brunner's value.

I'd take Franzen.

Haha my bad, you're right not the KHL..point being coming from a less of a league than the NHL.

Franzen was playing with Brunner and Zetterberg last game and Datsyuk with Bertuzzi and Filppula. I don't see them splitting Brunner and Zetterberg unless things really go cold.

But like stated we have a proven player with Franzen and I always try and take proven over potential. Thing is this year was my shaft year since I one it last year so I feel like I need to take risks.

I think this would be an easy choice if Brunner didn't shoot so god damn much.

At this point, maybe continue to take a bit of a chance, few more games then go from there. I run the risk of losing the trade but I also know this guys was thinking of throwing in a pick as well with Franzen. If Brunner stock goes up a bit more I feel I could lock up a good pick with Franzen for him.

More thoughts are welcome - Rep'd where I could
