to me collusion would be if the guy did it for nothing

since both sides got something that benefits them its not collusion in the way you mean it

This is not collusion in my opinion and if you guys don't like this, then put it in the rules for next year where you can't trade transactions. Otherwise it's fair game. And if he offered this up to everybody in the league, then everybody had a chance for it, no?

Is it a bs move? Probably. But if there aren't any rules against it, no issues.

I've done trades like that in the past. A waiver wire move is a tradeable asset at the end of the day.

It sounds legit to me, just based on how you've described it.

if both sides agrre to teh deal, its legit obviously. if your leauge has no rules regarding immediatre trades of WW pickups then agin its legit. GM-A may be a bit of a scumbag for approaching ALL other GMs about making a pick-up for him, but GM-B can be labled as an enabler for agreeing to this deal.

has there been any trade history between these two GM's? what was the feeling regarding any previous trades? is GM-B a newbie wanting to break the ice by making a trade?

I think it's a totally legit trade. Each manager gets something of value, one manager addresses a very immediate trade while the other gets something for the long term. Obviously the manager who lost may may be pissed but the trade is still fine.

I don't see any reason to restrict such a trade in the future (it seems like a very rare occurence)but if the league feels its necessary then many possibilities exist, the easiest being stating that any waiver wire pickup must be held for 7 days before being traded. I'll add that if you do create a rule it should only apply going forward and not to this deal. Others may think the trade was sleezy but it was within the rules so punishing it would not be fair.

My only area of concern is that someone coupld possibly be doing this move as a grudge against another GM. As this is a money league I could screw over a GM I didn't like or just for kicks. Concievably I could make 2 goalie adds and trade them to the guy he is playing against and hopefully knock him out of money. I'm trying to be fair, but that seems to be pretty underhanded. I'm trying to let the league police itself, but like everything there are loopholes.

While I understand the concern I wouldn't be worried about it. First off, it sounds like this was the first time the move has been used in your league so in the grande scheme of things its probably a tiny issue. Additionally, in any trade managers not involved may be negatively affected by it. In a keeper where the guy in 2nd improves for the current year and the guy in last improves long term the guys in 1st and 3rd are upset, it doesn't make the trade unfair it's just the nature of the beast. So long as both managers are receiving something of value in the deal each has a strong argument his only motivation was improving his team.

In relative terms giving up a draft pick to get a guy one week sooner is pretty substantial and if you try and make this move more than once or twice you're going to really hurt your team moving forward.
