Unless he's completely off his rocker, I don't think there's any way you get Malkin without giving up Tavares +.

And if Tavares, Callahan, Price and Rask are off the table, I don't see one package in which I'd accept the trade.

But there's no shaming in trying. Maybe, since you said your friend is high on both Parise and Cammalleri, maybe he'll accept the trade.
My friend is high on plenty of things in addition to Parise and Cammalleri.

I agree about Parise being a little overrated. I like him, but I don't know that he'll ever reach his past standards again, so I'm not afraid to move him.

Either way, he's just sitting on the deal right now. I'm 99% sure I'll have to improve the offer to make something happen.

Good luck though, if you can pluck him with what you have, you win the trade.
Definitely my thoughts. But I'm a shrewd negotiator, so I'm gonna give it a shot. Shit, I got Tavares for Sharp and Selanne last year...

plus sharp and selanne are close in level to tavares

parise is a couple of tiers below malkin and cammy is many more than just a couple of tiers below

Well, they may have been when he made the trade. Landing Tavares for them is a big win in a keep 5 in my opinion (in my opinion being the key phrase).

If you can turn anything on your roster into Malkin, you win. You might take a hit this year with your depth, but that will be made up next year.

lol i've advised people that you're first offer should always be insulting. i usually make it clear that the offer is simply a starting point, not something i'd actually expect to be accepted.

and if we're being honest here, he kind of insulted himself by putting Malkin on the trading block in a Keep-5.

The Sharp deal was made to a Blackhawks fan when Tavares hit a cold streak. I don't just flood the market with horrible trade offers, I pick the best opportunity.

Here's how the players literally stack up for our points system (safe bet for a good season).

Approx. fantasy points per game:
Malkin - 3.5
Parise - 2.5
Callahan - 2.5
Tavares - 2.3
Iginla - 2.2
Carter - 2.2
Pacioretty - 2.2
MRichards - 2.1
Lecavalier - 2.1
Cammalleri - 2.0
Brown - 2.0

Tavares deal was obviously not as lopsided as this offer, but my first offer in that deal was Tavares for Sharp straight. Eventually worked out a deal to include Selanne's old ass and I even snagged a draft pick in the deal too.

I agree about how far ahead Malkin is though. I just want to ensure that my desire for an elite stud doesn't outway how much he would realistically improve my team. In a keep-5, I'm always hesitant to move one keeper, let alone two or more, even if it is for possibly the #1 asset.

Basically, I know that first offer won't go through, I'm just trying to work out a maximum value of Malkin.

Also should mention, he was discussing Malkin options with another team who's best player is Kopitar...not even sure why lol...

As a Malkin owner, the discussion wouldn't begin unless it started with Tavares + Parise. Based on your approximate points per game ...

Malkin 3.5
Plus a guy on your wire that can get you 1.5 points on the wire which I'm sure won't be hard to find

For

Tavares 2.3
Parise 2.5

Malkin didn't play the whole season either if it was averaged at an 82 game sched so his point per game average could be higher

He's probably talking to the Kopitar owner because he thought your Paise / Cammalleri offer was a joke. Frankly if I was a Malkin owner, I'm not even sure how I would counter that. Be lucky if he even gives you Malkin for Parise / Tavares because I would need even more for the deal to be done.

I own Malkin and am looking at possibly moving him. But The STARTING conversations includ tavares/Zett/Keith in one case and Backstrom/Neal/Green in the other. So, I would't even consider such a deal.
