My keeper team (not in the sig) has been on the decline, so cleared most of the vets out last season to a team that was gunning for a championship, received a couple of young roster players and picks.
I've got Kipper, Briere and a couple others left - and wonder if this isn't the season to load up on picks. It's a 12 team full keeper, so the picks will be 1st and 2nd rounders in the 2013 draft class. With a shortened season, I feel like anything can happen, especially in H2H - so I'm a little torn. Particularly torn with Kipper because I know he can get me some value back.

if you started the rebuild you should see it through
this is probably the last season you get anything of value for briere and even that might be tough i think he is hurt currently kipper is still a solid goaltender but with all of the glitz and glamour of the young up and comers his value has taken a hit last season was a real good season for him but people see that age and some will walk away i dont think waiting another year is the right choice if you want to get any value for him it would help though to post your team and all relevant information |

I've been offered Dubnyk in a deal for Kipper - is that something I should consider?
Trading him for picks, means I need to parlay those picks into another worthy starter (damn I hate not having top notch goaltending). Thx.

While doing your "rebuild" instead of tearing it all down and building with teens you should instead focus on player that will be there when you are ready to compete. So getting 27 year olds is not a bad thing - they will still be very good in 2-3 years.

The 2013 draft is rather deep, so it certainly seem like a good time. And lucifer is right, this may be the last time you can get value from Briere, and Kipper isn't getting any younger.
As for your strategy, either commit to going for it or commit to a rebuild. Languishing in the middle ground, trying to do both at the same time, will most likely result with you ending up in no man's land with mid round picks, which means you've essentially extended your inevitable rebuild for a year, possibly more. If you commit to a rebuild, it will go smoother and faster than trying to play out the string with your vets at the same time as you're stocking young talent. Plus, if anything, a shortened season may even help you get better value, as a team with mediocre talent might ride a hot streak to the playoffs and look to overpay for a player or two.

It wouldn't be Dubnyk straight-up.
I've offered: Kipper/McNabb for Duby/Bartschi

i would make kipper available and see what offers come your way and i think you are underselling kipper by far with that deal you are offering kipper was a top 10 goalie in the league last season sell him like it Last edited by lucifer316; 01-11-2013 at 02:08 PM. |

You're on the right track but still not enough IMO. Kipper has never stopped being productive and has played 70+ games over the last 300 or so seasons.
