I think Smith has more upseid by year three (points wise), but is a little burried in detroit right now.
Hedman for the next two would be better for you, although he has to compete with salo for pp time now. he was racking up assists however during the lockout.

I see hedman with 30-35 points this year, Smith with 25.

Its close, but gotta go with Hedman in this instance.
