I'm not gonna pull any punches here, Carlos Quentin is a huge assclown. He's been hit three times by him in five years and he's making a fuss? Big whoop. When I was playing baseball I got drilled twice in one game and I just tossed my bat aside and took my base both times
This annoys me more than guys going after guys in hockey after a clean hit. The score in the game was 2-1 for the Dodgers and Greinke had Quentin at a full count. What kind of idiot logic would cause Greinke to decide in that moment "Hey, I don't like this guy. Maybe I'll plunk him and put the tying run on the bases". And seriously, for all of the talk that Quentin is doing about Greinke's reputation and all that did he not stop to think for a second about his own? The guy has been a magnet for baseballs and I think he's been plunked the most times in the major leagues over the past four or five years. Maybe there's a reason for that. It pisses me off nowadays that guys can crowd the plate and wear these elbow pads and just lean in and take pitches off the guard. That wasn't really the case in this instance, but in general it happens a lot. And just wow at the Padres President and CEO Tom Garfinkel. This is what he had to say on the incident: Quote:
Really? Even more of an assclown than Quentin is. Even putting his insensitive comments aside for a second just taking a look at his baseball comment: "He spends his life studying how to get hitters out" Umm, I'd be happy if all of my team's pitchers were that passionate about trying to improve and succeed... What a plug /endrant Last edited by bondon; 04-21-2013 at 09:43 AM. |

Greinke's body language sure didn't soothe the situation and I would guess that cussing at Quentin didn't help matters either. I don't remember what the numbers are but Greinke hit Quentin and the entire White Sox team (Quentin's last team) a disproportionate number of times. Not saying that Quentin was justified in charging the mound but Greinke sure is no choir boy out there on the mound.

You're down one run and the other guy drills you. Tell him to f*ck off and take your base if you want to and think it's intentional. Whenever that happened to me I would try to steal second on the very next pitch (as long as the catcher didn't have an absolute cannon lol, as I got older it definitely got a lot harder as people's arms were way more developed). But charging the mound like an idiot and risking injuring someone (including yourself) over a stupid 'vendetta' like this is idiotic IMO. |

Agreed. Quentin is definitely a headcase. A couple years back he hit his bat with his hand after making an out and was injured for the rest of the year. If memory serves me, the Sox were still in contention.
