45 hours is not bad. I am a student again (and now put in 70-80 hours a week studying or in class.... well not now since i just finished finals for this semester 2 days ago), and before that as a teaching it was 55-60 hours a week. 45 is a short week, and you should be happy about that.

To get your wife happy, do something for her. Flowers are overdone, and she may see through it since she has already expressed her unhappyness. i would make dinner a few nights in a row. take he somewhwere she would want to go to.,

My suggestion is to communicate with your wife and put your point of view on the table - in my experience the sooner you deal with the issue the better. Women typically do not understand the male need for space/personal time, however, I've found that often enough they will respect it (to an extent!) as long as it is balanced with dedicated time with your lady and as long as you approach the issue delicately.

I'm guessing what notoriousjim meant with his comment is that a lot of the time guys use flowers as a stand alone 'get out of jail free card'.

It is definitely the 'ready to listen' part that does it for the woman. The flowers don't hurt though.

Agreed. The trick is to bring them home for no apparent reason reason other than "I saw these and thought you might like them." No holiday, no special occasion, no apology etc.

That's when they melt.

45 hours a week is not that extreme at all. She may be misdirecting feelings onto you rather than confronting the root cause. Issues with friends, identity, career path may be manifesting as anger directed at you. Basically cuz you are an easy, readily available target. We all do it.

I will say this, when an individual (male or female) relies solely on their partner/wife/boyfriend etc...for 100% of their identity...well, no good ever comes of that. That's a fact you can take to the bank.

So to summarize, lets see, you're married and you have a job that gives you 45 hours a week...sounds like you're blessed to me.

Come on man, some of us don't have jobs at all...some of us are on unemployment or can only find "part-time" work...some of us work non-paying internships/apprenticeships...some of us get our hours cut every single week and are lucky to make 32 hours!!

I'm sure you were just venting, which is fine...we all need to sometimes. Just make sure you don't take things for granted. Don't sweat the small stuff.
