Anyone remember the good ol' days (at least mine) when you used to laugh to skits? I realize the top actors in my day are gone (Fallon, Farley, Ferrell) and actresses (Gasteyer, Fey, etc.) have also moved on, but is it just me, or are thee skits lamer and lamer by week?

Best SNL skits?
ie: Van down by the river, Timberlake in the soup costume, Will Ferrell Cheerleeders, etc.
Let's hear them!

I'm so glad I was old enough to remember the classic cast. John Belushi, Dan Akroyd, Gilda Radner, Chevy Chase, Garrett Morris. Plus the Eddie Murphy and Joe Piscopo years. Haven't watched it since, just hasn't been as good for me.

Best skits

Original cast

John Belushi's Samurai
Cheeburger cheeburger cheeburger, no fries chips, no pepsi coke

The Eddie Murphy years

Hands down, Mr Robinson's Neighborhood

Edit: How could I forget Tyrone Green "Kill my landlord" and I'm Gumby dammit.

SNL is still pretty good. There's always people who say things are never as good as they used to be (The Simpsons, the NHL, politics, the good ol' days, etc.). So when you watch the show, you can't really compare it to what used to be, because it will never live up to what you remember. People remember the good episodes back then, but they forget the horrible skits and some of the duller episodes.

Sure Will Ferrell was funny at times, but the cheerleader skit got pretty stale, but they kept trucking it out every week. A lot of his stuff was hit and miss (his hosting show last year was brutal).

The Seth Macfarlane episode this year was pretty good. So was Anne Hathaway. The rest usually have a couple of skits that make me laugh enough to keep coming back.

SNL's still got it.

Louis CK's monologue from this season was hands down the funniest monologue I've seen (only been watching for 5 years or so). Only one that comes close is Zach Galifianakis the first time he hosted.

Stefon on weekend update has gotten a bit stale but when they first started doing that skit on weekend update I found it hilarious. Bill Hader is my favorite cast member since I've started watching.

Jay Pharoah is a sign that the future is in good hands. His impressions are impeccable and his "Principal Fry" character is possibly my favorite skit.

And who didn't love the digital shorts?

Justin Timberlake is my favorite guest star. If he didn't become rich and famous so early on in his life, he'd probably end up on the main cast. He's perfect for the show.

I may not have been around for the "good old days", but I also know that I don't appreciate the humor from back when the same way the older generation doesn't appreciate the humor from today's shows.

SNL adapts to the constantly changing younger generations. That's one explanation for how it's been on the air for so long.

That being said, I do wish I was around for the Fallon/Fey era. They did some great work. Only got into the show the season after Fey left.

big fan of the show .
now that I have a DVR I can just skim through the parts that dont make me laugh.

love the soap opera skit ''The Californians'' and Bobby Moynihans guest appearances on weekend update as ''Drunk Uncle''

Will Ferrell as Roger Klarvin and Rachel Dratch as Virginia Klarvin (sophisticated couple in hot tub scenes)is right up there with my fav skits .
