Ya, I just looked at the CDHL account and "Jase Burns" aka "Old Skool" transfered the $50 I gave Brandon into the CDHL account. it says I paid offline. That said, there is still a lot of guys entries missing.

So did he attempt to legitimize then realize there was a lot of money owed or what? More questions than answers.....

Can't believe this is the same "Shakedown" from our forums... seemed like such a nice guy.

I don't think there are any excuses for misappropriating hockey pool funds. As commish you have a fiduciary duty to protect that money and redistribute it as governed by the league and its rules. It should NEVER be spent - no excuses.

I know, Shakedown always seemed quality to me. I dealt with him a lot in the early days of the CDHL (June). I'd really like to find out what the real story is here.....

I'd like to point out that when Brandon (shakedown) finally admitted that the reason he hadn't made the payouts was because he had spent the money on medical bills, that I offered to send him money, I said he could keep anything that was owed to me, and that if he just told people from the beginning what was going on that they would understand and probably want to help him out. I may have never met him in person but I considered him a friend and so did guys that he was in leagues with for 10 years. It was not until I discovered that he was creating new money leagues under different handles that I felt the need to come out and say something. I don't care what the circumstances are, if you owe people money for winnings and league fees then you don't start creating new leagues until those people have been paid. And I don't care what the circumsatnces are, you don't start creating new leagues and try to hide your identity.

I don't buy it. I would give it a couple of weeks. Shakedown has been a staple here. What kind of slack do you give someone if you found out they were diagnosed with cancer, or their parents died...or they're going through a divorce all of a sudden?

We don't know the background, I think giving him some time is best here.

I was in a ''free'' cbs league of his a few years ago and it was the slowest of slow live drafts of all time .I recall being amazed that the draft was going so slow yet he was started other leagues at same time .

think I lost to metaldude in the semis --need to repay that trash talkin you gave me one of these days

Yeah you do. I got lucky that season - invested everything into landing Crosby only to have him go down halfway through the year. Still don't know how my team pulled that one out. Only half the league was even remotely committed though so I was one of the bigger proponents of folding.

I am still willing to give the guy the benefit of the doubt, would be nice for him to chime in though. Or Jase........ if that is indeed a different guy or an alias...

EDIT: Brandon just refunded my 50 dollar entry fee after I emailed both him and Jase, so it looks like he isn't all that crooked.

What don't you buy exactly?

It's weird when multiple people have verified being in a league he created, and then just scrapping the league and keeping the entry fees.

I don't understand what being diagnosed with cancer (God forbid), or any other terrible tragedy, has to do with this though. Of course, I don't think anyone would of had a problem if he stepped away from the fantasy scene to deal with personal issues. That isn't the case.

Would it be acceptable if someone stole your money to feed his starving family?

Glad you got your refund smokie. I sent an email to all the adresses I had and tried calling him. All the emails but one bounced back and the phone is disconnected. All I asked for was an explanation. If he really needs the money he can keep it but I just want to know what is going on.
