He should not be using people's pool money to pay other stuff.

I don't think anyone is thinking he planned to do it. But regardless, he did. Medical problems or not, taking the money for personal reasons is fraudulent. Whether he pays it back or not, it was not his money to do with as he saw fit.

This may sound cold, but it's the way I see it.

If he just came out and said he was having medical problems/money issues I am sure he would have garnered some support here. I for one would chipped in - but maybe i am naive.
Instead I get this for trying to get fees back after he quit and paid another GM back his entry fee. Pretty awesome as he had just down our fun league and came back into our Fantrax league with an Alias.

Note from Brandon Smith:
"Quit harassing other people with your bullshit. You quit on the guys, you got some nerve dude. Here is your money. Feel proud Mick, feel proud."

Sorry Steve, but the time for defending him is past. He says he needs time away from fantasy sports and then he starts a whole bunch of new money leagues? He spends the money he collected on "medical bills" and then he starts collecting more money under assumed names? I was like you in the beginning. I gave him the benefit of the doubt and supported him. His actions and inactions have proven that my trust and faith in him were msiplaced and so is yours.

As you can see from my previous posts I clearly agree with this sentiment just responding to ED's comments about possible corollaries with other "scams". As you say, no one really thinks he planned to do it but because with most crimes be it legal or moral pre-meditation makes things that much worse I just want to make sure that distinction is acknowledged.

Clearly you know him better than I do but this comes up every year with regards to people chasing him for money. It can't be that much of an accident when he returns to start a bunch of leagues just recently.

Looking back I think there was premeditation. He opened up a whole bunch of new leagues this year and all of them were money leagues. In at least one of the football leagues the rules were only half assed written, no details, no trade deadline set. Does that sound like a regular Brandon league set up to you where everything including what logos to use are set up well in advance?

I can't speak to the most recent leagues he set up or the ones he's tried to do in the last month or so. My talk about the medical bills and what not is more with regard to his shutting down leagues early this fall. I just think he got into real financial difficulties with medical bills this fall and then pulled the plug on all the leagues. I won't disagree with any speculation made about these new leagues, I'm just saying that before all his problems started I don't really think he intended on ripping anyone off.

Fair enough. Thanks for bringing up a bit of the "other side" to this story. Whether it's what people want to hear or not, it's always needed.
