Ah the irony. If Mario hadn't got rich from the NHL in the first place none of this would have been possible for him.

If the owners cave we could be left with a world where teams were forced to spend so much money on players that they eventually had to hand over an ownership stake to cover the debts to the franchise player. I can understand how galling that notion is to Mario. The owners need to stay strong.
