Hummmm humm....

How can anyone honestly with their right minds choose Yakupov over Thornton or Zetterberg.

We are talking about proven points per-game player. Yakupov will be an all-star, but JT and Zett are already all-stars.

For the next 3 years, I would take Miller,JT,Zett.

The way I see it for next season:

Lundy > Miller
Yakupov << Thornton
Kreijci << Zetterberg

The way I see it in 3 years :

Lundy > Miller
Yakupov = JT
Kreijci < Zett

I like Side B.


1. We all know Lundqvist is solid, but the Atlantic Division is tough. The Flyers have solidly rebuilt, the Pens are strong, the Isles are coming. The Devils still are solid. It's a tough division that NYR has done well in. And the Rangers have cut back on Lundqvist's time to closer to 65 games.

In 65 games, Lundy will put up 40W, 8SO = 104pts.

Buffalo is spending. They'll be better. Their defense is all together for another year and Ryan Miller is a top 5 goalie in the league, IMO. Also, the northeast has Boston and then... Ottawa (really not that good), Toronto (ugh), Montreal (ugh). Lots of wins there, I think.

In 65 games, Miller will put up 38W, 6SO = 94pts.
*I really think Buffalo is heading towards being an emerging team in the East. Very fond of the new owner spending, the shift towards more defensive players (Ott instead of Roy). A very solid defense.

NET: +10 for Side A.


2. Yakupov will possibly put up numbers like 50pts/65pts/75pts/80pts.
Thornton is going to be steady at 70-75pts.

NET: +25/15/even... for Side B.


3. Zetterberg is a 70pt guy.
Krejci is probably a 60pt guy... I like his play but I really think Horton & Krejci were overperforming a few years ago and will cede a lot of PP1 time to Seguin/Bergeron.

NET: +10 for Side B.



OK... so IMO.
Lundqvist is a +10 for Side A... and this is cancelled by...
Zetterberg as a +10 for Side B.

What's left is Yakupov vs. Thornton... and I'd take Thornton in a points-only pool.
Thornton will win this fight for at LEAST two years, maybe three. That's enough for me. I play for NOW.

I'd take side A. Lundqvist is probably the top goalie in the league and Nail is probably the top prospect who will score more goals than Zetts. Goals are rarer. JT and Zetts are high end, but for how much longer. Yakupov is elite and possibly even marquee.

THANK YOU. My initial reaction was Side A no question.
Then I started reading everyone saying maybe B... started to wonder if I was way off lol.

Keeper aspect, Lundqvist/Yakupov is better than Miller and either of Thornton/Zetterberg.

For this year, Lundqvist >>> Miller, Krejci could = Zetterberg, Thornton > Yakupov.
So you give up some in the Thornton/Yakupov part... but the gap for Lundqvist over Miller outweighs that any way in my opinion.
