I cant say I won't be a fan again. I'm a junkie. I'm the guy in our keeper league trying to make trades hoping that people haven't lost intrest. I will always be a hockey fan and will always follow the best hockey league in the world. The NHL.

However, I don't think the same for marginal US fans in Nashville, Pheonix, Columbus etc... Hockey is our game. Canadian live and die for Hockey and Tim Hortons coffee! We will come back. Will they?

To me, there's nothing more frustrating then when either side makes a "statement" through the media. Both sides are talking out the side of their mouths, spewing rhetoric and slinging crap towards the other side. It's classic bargaining tactics 101 and it's insulting for them to think we buy into their crap. If you do believe half of what they are saying through the media, get your head out of the sand.

I too like to believe there will be a season, but I am also not foolish enough to think that the owners won't lock the doors for another season again simply to make a point. Can either side really afford to miss another entire year. I am confident when I say the owners will survive. This isn't their only source of income. Now the other side, ugh. Big pill to swallow. Are they willing to swallow that? I guess time will tell.

There is still plenty of time to salvage a season, or some facsimilie of one at least.

The NHL is more than just a product, it's a "love brand" that is weaved through the cultural fabric in millions of us. It's a product in the sense that there is "consumption" but it's easy to see that the NHL is bigger than any one player, person, game, jersey, etc.

As frustrating as this all is just remember its all lawyers at Proskauer Rose (and the PA's legal counsel as well) banking billable hours for their "lockout playbook". It'll get resolved, it would be resolved already if everyone came together in good faith to bargain, but that's not the world we live in. A prolonged lockout equals big money for the behind the scenes actors regardless of the outcome. Its all about the money, and not the money the media/players/owners have been talking about so far. We'll get our hockey eventually but until then we have to deal with the Sniders/Melnyks/Dolans/Pegulas talking about how they want to play while voting unanimously to not play, Bettman and Fehr huffing and puffing while Sidney Crosby whines about the unfairness of it all.

Agreed. That is a bold statement, my friend. You can't guarantee the outcome on something you have absolutely zero control on it.
