Default Too much for Eriksson!?

This is for my new 10 team H2H league.

Stats include: G A PTS PPP SOG +- HITS BLKS FOW - WINS SV% GAA SVS
Weekly starts - 4C 4RW 4LW 6D 2G

One GM's roster is super young and I targeted Eriksson. He wants Grigorenko, Rattie, Neuvirth & a 1st rd prospect pick for Eriksson, DSP, Josi & a late prospect pick.

It's a heavy price for sure, but I'm built for now. Would you do it? Team below.

C - H.Sedin, Kesler, Plekanek, Gagner
LW - Ovechkin, Nash, Zetterberg, Michalek, Cammalleri
RW - Perry, Kessel, Wheeler, Purcell, Briere, Stewart
D - Weber, Edler, Phaneuf, Giordano, McDonagh, Mezaros, Boychuk
G - Niemi, Anderson, Brodeur, Neuvirth

Interesting offer.

Looking at your roster, your wingers are already pretty solid. if Eriksson is dual eligible then he would be an upgrade over Michalek at LW and maybe Purcell at RW in a weekly start 4.

But your C looks weaker. Plekanec gets FOW but may have a declining role, and Gagner is only average.

If your are giving up a top C prospect in Grigs I would target a C instead. Who is else is on your farm?

Yep. Totally see your point. I would end up keeping Eriksson and moving another winger for a center. How did you know that was my plan?;

No other elite prospects. Just Silfverberg, Foligno, Conacher, Ceci.

I am psychic

Guess it depends which winger you will trade and who can you get for them.

Is it possible to just try and trade Grigs for a C like Getzlaf ? (I know he sucked last year as I had traded him, but still ended up redrafting him this year)

Grigs should have high value dominating QMJHL and Foligno is useful for hits but may be over valued at the moment given last year and this years ahl stats.

Eriksson is solid 70 pt player but you potentially have that in Wheeler and Purcell already. Upgrading from Michalek to Eriksson is maybe 20-25 pts. upgrading from Gagner would be better.

I'd do it man. Eriksson will go a long way toward helping you now. I think it's a relatively cheap price to pay for a solid top 3 F. The only worry I have is... would it cripple your G beginning next year? Neuvy is a nice glimmer of hope in the midst of Anderson and Brodeur. Niemi I'm iffy on (that's why I took Hiller over him in our draft). If Neuvy steals the #1 job this year, that could hurt you in this deal.

indeed. there's definitely huge potential for me to loose badly in this trade. Grigs could end up being elite & Neuvirth a starter. Not even putting the draft pick into the equation.

Brodeur has another year on his contract, so we're looking at 2 years from now. Lots of good goalies pop up by then....... definitely still a tough decision. He's the only GM in this type of scenario. It's a new league & definitely hard to trade prospects for vets cuz everyone has a competitive team. I would love to get Lehner off him, but he also owns Bishop. I think he's expecting one of them to take over sooner than later.

Anyone else want to pipe in?

was hoping for a bit more input.....

The offer ended up being Grigorenko, Neuvirth, Rattie, and my 1st rd prospect for Eriksson, Smith-Pelley, Josi, and a late rd prospect pick. This was the offer that he proposed. overpayment IMO. I set the deal up in Fantrax and he ended up backtracking due to a minor positional matter. So then I back tracked to a slightly smaller offer of........

Grigorenko, Neuvirth & my 1st rd prospect pick for Eriksson, Josi & a late rd prospect pick.

How balanced is this trade offer in your opinion? It is still pending

NOTE: Josi is not farm eligible and there is no room for him on our small bench. He would be dropped.
