I'd be going with Edler...but they're not really that far off in my eyes. But I'd definitely be going with Edler.

Edler - absolute #1 power-play option on a very good offensive team. People love to overlook this guy, but he's in his prime and he's good. Simple as that.
Shattenkirk - really good first two years, but the Blues really don't score a ton Carlson - huge upside, but not the #1 option. However, as mentioned above by someone, Edler's bad back has to be a bit of a concern. If it's enough of a concern for ya, Shatty is a really nice second option..and Carlson isn't far off either. But when push comes to shove, I'm taking Edler. |

As an owner of all three, I value them as....
Edler Shattenkirk Carlson Edler is consistent, he puts up regular points on a powerhouse. Shattenkirk is close behind, but still needs to prove he can break the fifty mark. I would bet on him though. Carlson has tons of potential and ability, but has proven the least. None of these guys are throw aways, but lots of great/bad trades are pulled based on potential and that is the diff. with Edler. He has proven himself. If you put a gun to my head and said pick one. I take Edler.

As a previous owner of all 3 I would also be keeping Edler.
The reason I don't have him any more is because I dealt him plus a winger for Loui Eriksson ![]() You have to look at your team make up, if you can improve your team by trading Edler then do so!

Is your focus to win now or to set yourself up in a year or two? If you're trying to win now (assuming there is a season) I'd go Edler. If you're trying to set yourself up in a couple years then I'd keep Carlson. I think Vancouver is strating the trend down. St. Louis I see scoring more by committee. If Oates can get Washington back to their high scoring ways, given Green's band-aid boy ways, then Carlson could be in line for a huge breakout. My $0.02.
