The Crosby deal was great one for you.

I don't like the other. I think this Harding will be as good as Elliott this year and Schultz just may, MAY put him in conversation about your 8 keepers at the end of this year. So I'm not a fan of this move. I think with the hype around Schultz - even in a keep 8 - you could gotten much better return for him and Harding.

In a limited keeper, any time you can score both Crosby and already own Malkin, thats a good day. Ya, you paid a pretty penny to get him, and it may hurt this year, but long term you win.

The first deal isnt that great. I think Harding and Elliot are a wash. I am not a big Elliot fan (1 good year doesnt make a good goalie) and Harding has all the talent in the world but cant stay on the ice long enough to show it. Both are backups and both should produce equally. So for me, its Schultz vs Wellwood. Not even close, you lose here. None of these guys will probably be keepers for you ( although as Carcillo says, Schultz may have surprised you and forced you to make a tough choice). If anything good comes out of this deal, it takes away the chance for you to have to make a tough choice at seasons end on your keepers.

You probably gave up too much in Schultz/got too little back in Wellwood, but I too would have been itching to lose Harding while he is healthy, and being touted as the Minny's future starter. I don't trust his health at all.

Elliott does have the misfortune of sharing the crease with Halak, and as others have mentioned, there is no guarantee he can be anywhere near as good as last year, but he is playing for Hitchcock, who has a way of making goalies look really good. Considering you gave up Schultz to sweeten the deal, I would have preferred to see you land someone more proven (if not necessarily coming off a stellar season like Elliott) but I still think you have upgraded your goaltending position, and gotten rid of a potential injury headache in the process.
