Default Claude Giroux and Brandon Saad for Marian Hossa and Ryan Getzlaf

One year H2H league , I get The Giroux side and at first I was thinking no chance. Then I remembered the logic of the team that gets the best player usually wins the deal. Is this a exception, can Giroux keep up the numbers from last season and will Getz have another off year.

12 person league, these are the cats

G, A, P ,+/-, PPG, PPP, SHP

I dunno that's a big gamble of a deal IMO...

With Giroux, Hossa and Getzlaf you could argue that they're all within ballpark figures of each other, but then you have a huge unknown in Saad that we don't know very much about or have seen at an NHL level...

Also there's a lot of unknown about Giroux, can he repeat, is he legitimately a top-5 fantasy player? If he repeats one more year then I wouldn't hesitate to lump him with the Crosby, Malkin, Ovechkin and Stamkos, but based on just 1 year that's a huge leap of faith.

With Getz and Hossa you essentially know what you're going to get... There's much more security with those 2 than Giroux and Saad.

If it was Giroux and more of an known entity then I'd give it a good think, but with Saad I'd pass based on the gamble...

See if you can get an upgrade on Saad.

Yeah, like I say when I first looked I was thinking no chance. The GM who offered this has Crosby, and Stamkos also ( it was a auction league and he blew his budget real fast). Would Getz and Hossa for one of those guys make it harder to turn down, or even a counter. Like I say he blew his budget fast and his team is real weak after the big 3 which makes a package tough.

Yup, and not much else after that. A few guys mised the draft and he just grabbed the first few players while others were gunshy. But he didnt budget well and besides these guys he has little depth.

I dunno I might just let him toil with it then... This might have been his strategy all along to go after the big guns, package them with low cost prospects with "big names" for quality vets, to build a "super team" with depth...

Seems like a smart play to me if he can pull it off...

I'd pass unless you get more security besides Saad.

What's on the waiver wire? Who could you pick up after the trade to replace Saad with?

I would say no. Both Hossa and Getz can put up 80pts each, 160 points total. Giroux and Sadd can put up 95pts total. In a one year league this is a no go.
