Straight points. 2 points for a win & 2 points for a shutout. Who would you want?
I do have Rinne and Howard already but I need a backup. I'd be trading Halak+ a player and getting Ward/Schneider + a player. I know the trade depends on the other players but I'm looking just for the goalie help. What do you guys think?

I would go with Schneider here. Once the Luongo trade goes through Schneider could easily be a better fantasy option than Rinne.

Going against the grain here. Ward for me.
His win totals (during full seasons, ie: not injured, etc.): 06-07: 30 wins 07-08: 37 wins 08-09: 39 wins 10-11: 37 wins 11-12: 30 wins That's an average of 35 wins per season playing on a team that has been largely mediocre. They should be taking a big step forward this year and I don't really see Schneider as a work horse goalie. |

Schneider will also get more SO than Ward just based on Vancouvers defensive system.

2) Lack is as capable or even more capable than Schneider was at the same age. Look what happened when Schneider came onto the scene in Vancouver - Luongo's starts dropped from ~75 a year to ~60. Basically I'm saying Lack is as capable if not more capable of a backup than Schneider and that, combined with Schneider's limited starts to date, gives Vancouver little to no reason to throw 70 starts his way. |

This one is a toughie. I had to make this choice in the summer for my keeper list, same point system except 5 points for SO. I decided with Schneider because I still had Rask on the bench. I think Ward is the safer bet, but Schneider could be an elite goalie and worth chancing it. So I decided to gamble. Mind you I made my choice pre Semin, Staal and Garrison being moved. But regardless, I think you could gamble with the depth you have with your goalies, and try and luck out with a truly elite goalie on a great team.

Schneider is pretty green too when it comes to starting goalies. I know he's on Vancouver but I still go with Ward here. He is consistent as they come and the Canes sold be even better this year.

I still think that Schneider could be a worthwhile risk over Ward. But your situation is Rinne, Howard, Schneider vs. Rinne, Howard, Schneider. In this situation, the risk is not worth the potential difference, so the safer route is with Ward.

I prefer Ward here given his proven track record on a middle of the road team. Ultimately though, I would see which one the other manager is most willing to part with - if there is a notable difference in what he wants in return, take the one he values least.
