"Res ipsa loquiter"... if HE SEIZED HIS OPPORTUNITIES THIS THREAD WOULD NOT EXIST.

And, give me a break... as if Washington only signed Vokoun because he threw himself at them. The fact is, the Caps don't trust Neuvirth. They've shown that consistently. The Varlamov trade was all about extracting a huge return and knowing that they eventually needed to make room for Holtby anyway.
Why don't you answer my question instead of deflecting and changing the topic?

Again, aside from the Tampa Bay series, which came after a great Rangers series, when has he ever failed to seize opportunities? It's his fault that he got injured at the end of last season? It wasn't even a serious injury, but it was timed perfectly for Holtby. How is he responsible for that injury? And where are all his other numerous opportunities that he has squandered, as you make it out to be?

Yeah, every goalie who ever lost one single playoff series FAILED TO SEIZE ALL OF HIS OPPORTUNITIES!!!111

That's just ignorant BS right there.

Edit: To put this to you in plain English, since you were obviously unable to comprehend basic English the last time: HE WAS THE ****ING STARTER JUST BEFORE THE 2012 PLAYOFFS STARTED BUT HE GOT INJURED!

No one in particular just wondering in general if Holtby is the man. Guys i would be looking at are players who seize opportunities like a Wolski, Tlusty, Kassian, Caron etc.

Either way id be waiting to see how things shake out in the first few weeks. Really, i was just gauging Neuvy's value. Sure looks like hes still got plenty.

No choice but to roll with the tandem

HE WAS THE ****ING STARTER BECAUSE THEY HAD NO OTHER VIABLE OPTION AT THAT TIME.

See, I can write in caps too.

You have no case. Like I already wrote, if he had seized his opportunities, this thread would not exist. Any goalie with declining stats in his last 3 seasons and a SV PCT of .900 has SEIZED NOTHING.

Holtby is the starter. His job to lose.
And Dobber agrees with that assessment. Nuff said.

Oh boy now you did it. The wheels are turning lol.

I traded Duchene straight for Rinne in what was considered a bit of a de-pantsing in my favor. Id likely get a stud D or fwd, but i think im gonna stick with him

You are an idiot, plain and simple.

Wow wasn't quite expecting the firestorm, but in the end it looks like Neuvy/Holts is more valuable together than rolling the dice on Holts and waiver X at this point.

Thanks again to all for your comments

I don't believe either Neuvirth or Holtby can be considered the front-runner.
The Caps have a completely new coach (Oates).

I'm actually amazed that Holtby is going so high in drafts & Neuvirth is going so low.
Holtby played better in his NHL stints last year, but that is a very, very small sample size to draw from.

Neuvirth guided the Hershey Bears to Calder Cup championships in 2009 & 2010.
Yes, it's a smaller stage, but a championship is still a championship.

There is no clear-cut frontrunner in the Caps goalie situation, IMO.
At least not until we see Oates ice the team for 3-4 straight games.

This is why I locked down the tandem. I just hope that ONE of them emerges sooner than later and it is not an Elliott/Halak type thing, as I am hoping not to carry three tenders if at all possible

Well... to go back to the original post.
1) You should at least wait on the season being announced.
2) Wait for the revised schedule.
3) Once the schedule is released, consider looking at the "same night tool" to find out how many conflicts there are between NAS/WAS. It may turn out they have a lot of conflicts and you may be better off trying to deal them both for a team with less conflicts. They also take up two roster spots. So, dealing the WAS tandem (perhaps 6/10) for say Ondrej Pavelec (5/10, but a likely #1 starter) might make sense if Winnipeg has way less conflicts with NAS.

In other words, you've got some waiting to do.
For now - keeping both WAS goalies is the right choice.
