Hey, I'm a new hockey fan and wanted to get some opinions on my recently drafted team.

Any glaring weaknesses? I think my D is weak, so do I have anyone on my team that I should trade? Who should I go after?

Also, I was thinking about dropping C. Hodgson and picking up either Yakupov or Oshie. What would be my best move?

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the boards!

In a 12 team league where 40% of your categories are goaltending, you have great goaltenders.
However, your forwards and D are a little on the weak side. You have no shortage of grit, as you secured guys like Doan, Cole, Landeskog, Seidenberg, Hamonic, etc....but you're lacking a bit in the scoring department.

However, in a H2H league given the categories you have, your team could be good enough to make a good push.

My two cents.

Definitely grab Yakupov if you can - kid will be a stud.

You have great goalies, and while your D-corps isn't a sexy group, they're great peripheral-wise. You have some stud forwards but are top heavy - Ie: your top 4 are very good but then they drop off dramatically.

Overall I think you have a good team though it's hard to compare without knowing what other teams look like.

I agree with Bondon here.
In your format there could easily be better D than Seidenberg and Hamonic on waivers. It would be great to see who is available and we could recommend who you should pick up.

Your goalies are great, but other than Kovalchuk (maybe Spezza) there is no Elite firepower or players that will put up 70+pts.

Welcome to the boards and the sport!
Luckily for you, you've come to the right place, and with a league that only keeps 2 players, you'll be able to dominate your draft next year.

Also with SOG & Hits, guys like Kane, Landeskog & Cole will prove to be quite valuable.

I think you guys are underestimating his team a bit...

Kane and Landeskog are absolute gold in this format... as in like potential top-25 skaters in this format going into next year.

And Seidenberg and Hamonic aren't going to put up much points but they could both approach 30 with a bunch of hits and decent +/-. There might be a few equivalent guys on the WW as rob said though.

Welcome to the boards.

Although high on the peripheral side, I think you could be competitive on a weekly basis, given the categories used. Yes, providing us with a few other available F and D will help knowing whether you need to make any changes. But I wouldn't worry too much, and can better evaluate it once the season gets going.

Love your goalies, though I find it interesting that there's a category for GA. Not a fan of having categories that reward you for sitting your goalies, even though it's probably meant to be strategic. Not the best way IMO (would rather use ratios) but that's the way it is.

Given that it's a keep two, it's essentially a one-year league. Not sure how well Yakupov will perform this year, and Oshie is interesting but is limited with the Blues' depth, forcing many to share ice time. Though he's solid in multiple categories including hits. I'll lean towards him but others may say Yakupov.

I don't think I'm underestimating his team in the least bit. Re-read my post.

I can read Just saying he already has the peripherals down and goaltending down and I can see a few of his players taking big steps points-wise. He's obviously not going to be leading the pack in assists and stuff but he should be competitive in goals with Kane, Lando, and Kovy. Goaltending he should be among the leaders and peripherals as well.
