I might be way off or alone on this but if the CBA gets signed in time for the season to begin on November 2nd I predict 2 things will happen.

Considering the league has suggested it can still accommodate 82 games by having a slightly condensed schedule, more games in less time = shorter recovery periods = increased wear and tear = more injuries.

There could be slightly more injuries this year for a few reasons. Although some players have been staying in shape and/or playing overseas. The lack of exhibition games and shortened training camps may lead to increased injuries for those that may not be in tip-top shape.

Secondly, I predict to back up goalies to start more games this season. You should notice this especially during the weeks where they jam in the "make up games" for the games we're missing now. Most teams will miss between 8-9 games and the idea is to jam one in every few weeks or so.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out but this stuff crossed my mind when I seen the proposal that included the condensed schedule to preserve the 82 games.
