We play with the cap, points and pims.
M.D.Z carlson ellis b.smith nikitin white since there may not be hockey this year, and since we get ten trades a season. I was thinking of dumping ian white for Reilly or Dumba, any thoughts on this and how my blue line looks? Would love to hear some feedback. |

You need to provide more information, league type, scoring categories, number of teams, number of keepers etc. etc.
At first blush I would be inclined to drop White for one of those two depending on categories and other factors. I'll wait on further info. EDIT: just saw you use cap with points + PIMs. Still need other info.

No way of knowing what your team looks like, or how many teams there are in your league.
Judging from the guys you have though it looks like you have a pretty young roster and won't be competitive for a bit so I'd dump White for either of the two. |

Points / PIMs I would prefer Dumba here for what it's worth.
Ultimately your D looks like you are either rebuilding or you are in a very large league, in which you initially drafted D-men in later rounds. You clearly have to let most of these guys develop into better roles with their clubs and tap into more offensive upside. MDZ is in the best situation of any current guys on your back end, and should be a pretty solid points contributor for a good while. Same goes for Brendan Smith. He should be able to step into the top-4 role in DET with relative ease. He'll have plenty of opportunities to produce with the talented forwards in the motor city. I think Carlson will probably end up being your core defender - either he or Dumba, but that is MUCH further out than Carlson emerging - but the problem is his current shut-down type role with Washington (at least last year). There's no telling if he will assume a more offensive role this season, but he certainly has the skill set to be your most complete contributing blueliner. Ellis showed promise last season, but likely needs more time to develop before he can be relied upon as a steady fantasy option. As for Nikitin, I'm not entirely sure what you can expect from him PIM-wise, but he should be a lock for 40-ish points with potential for more. Not a terribly bad situation in Columbus, and he produced at a steady clip there last season. White is a non factor. Get rid of him for Dumba. The kid is an aggressive, offensively gifted D-man with "franchise" written all over him.

I suppose MDZ and to a lesser extent, Nikitin.

That is not proven. He is lacking in proven top talent like Buff, for example.

g-8 a-7 sh-10 pm-1 limited keeper, 8 teams, keeping 12 dropping 10. 12 forwards, 6 D, 2 Goalies, 2 on the bench. six trades for free agents a season, 12 bench moves. Yes, i have a very young blue line. I won our league last season, and only kept carlson and mdz going into this season, picking up the rest via trade or draft. I'm confident they are all 30 points players with 40 point upside, some 50. cheap 40 points blue liners are very sought after in our league. With exception to karlsson, byfuglien, letang. this will be my third year in the leauge, so many top players were taken or held onto. |

Yeah that's why White to me has limited purpose here. His/Her entire d-core is full of young guys who haven't played enough games or guys who may not have realized their full potential yet.
