I was hoping that Niemi or Lou would come back around in round 3, but they went two picks ahead of mine. I just figured at that point any goalie left wasn't much above a turd so I grabbed Kopitar and then held my nose and took Marty in round 4.

Still seems crazy to regard Marty that way, but the glory days are behind him. Hopefully he can still be a serviceable #2, but I'd be lying if I said I was confident of that.

nordiques:
c: benn (lw), dubinsky (lw), steen (lw), shaw
lw: j.staal (c), dupuis (rw), malone, latendresse, larose (rw)
rw: lupul (lw), franzen (lw), doan (lw), kennedy (lw), hansen
d: byfuglien (rw), souray, garrison, meszaros, boychuk, quincey, r.murray, b.mcnabb
g: rask, howard, elliott

i was ready for the goalie run at the beginning, but right when i decided it was time to pick pavelec, someone picked him just before me...i settled for elliott. lots of rookies (murray, mcnabb, shaw) and bab's (latendresse, steen, souray, malone, lupul...). success will matter on them. the dual eligibilities will help me with the injury bug though. potential for shots, pim and hits.

Draft Analysis
My entire plan going into the draft was to take a Goalie in rounds 1 and 2. My two top goalies going before me a switched gears and went with Ovechkin. This altered my entire draft strategy and I think that I should have gone with my original thought.

Favorite Pick

Have to go with Kulikov, I really think that he will develope more of an offensive touch.

Pick I Regret.
I may have overreached with both Semin and Price. Price was a panic move because goalies were going fast. I usually avoid taking Semin because he can be so hot and cold.

Players I wanted.
I was really hoping Lundqvist was going to drop to 5th, then I hoped that Ward would drop but he went before me in the Second Round.
I wanted Backes or Brown but they went just before me in the 4th round.
I also wanted Carcillo who went in round 18 so I was forced to take Tootoo in round 19.

Really like what you did posting all the players as they related to the other 3 drafts. Neat to see how they line up in each of the different leagues!!

I like how your team turned out, fairly deep in all positions with your weakest being RW IMO. I dont think you reached on Price at all, if you would not have grabbed a goalie with that spot you would be in a world of hurt. Toews at 65 was a great selection and Hemsky being drafted so late in all drafts is a homerun for all that were able to pick him up.

Good luck this year

I also posted this on the league board:

Just a general post saying that I am willing to consider trades if anyone is interested. I'm looking for a bit more grit and willing to use some of my offensive depth (though value is still important). Rather than listing specific players, I'll leave it open as I figure most players are available at the right price to fill a need (for both sides). If you have any thoughts, feel free to contact me, and I'll do the same.

Also should mention that I'm also a bit weak on defense so willing to use my forward depth to upgrade there.
