Another thing to consider - this is a H2H league so you can be slightly weak in a category and still do well. Contrary to roto, you don't necessarily need balance across the board. So, sometimes it might be worth waiting until the season gets going and how you perform early before making a decision. Also, there should regularly be decent options in FA as the season progresses, or guys that people will drop out of impatience.

In this league, you typically need 4 good centers. Some guys have 5-6. Doan at peak may hit 50 points this year and what he'll bring is hits. I'd like to pick up both Stepan and Berglund / Vermette as I feel I can add some more hits, FWs and PPPs to my team. It remains to be seen though if Vermette sticks on the #1 line. And it also remains to be seen if St. Louis will start scoring goals which will help Berglund's value. They were very defensive last season.

Stepan, it seems, is a lock for me though, but even he is missing Gaborik until November. The lockout helps his case since it looks like we'll be starting in January.

Clarkson will be kept because of PIMs. Also, he should be the one benefiting from Parise's spot.

I know I've looked at your team before.
If you really want to pin this one down, start looking around your league.

Write down every team & how many FOW their players got last year.
Write down every team & how many HITS their players got last year.
Compare to how many FOW & HITS that your team has.

How many teams do you beat in FOW?
How many teams would you beat in HITS?
Once you have a really good grip on that, THEN you are in best position to consider tweaking your team.
(Only in established leagues can you look at other teams and do this... so it has value in your league.)

If they had 500 hits, you want 550 hits.
If they had 1800 FOW, you want 1900 FOW.

This is the part of the pool where you can really get a leg-up by examining other teams.

Sorry for the delay. I did a ranking in Excel of all the teams. Here are the stats:

Since this is a 12 teamer, it looks like I have a lot of work to do, though Zajac's injury stats are included. With his stats from last year, they look like this:

Some obvious changes:
-Give up some of Girardi's hits for someone like Stuart who gets more PIMs (~ 100), 200 hits and 180 blocks, but I still give up some PPPs. Another option is Hamonic on D ~75 PIMs, 170 hits and 160 blocks with some PPPs.
-Give up Doan and his hits for a center to bump my As and FWs.

Thoughts?
