Thanks all - especially Prairie Dog for initiating the thread. I have long been a fan of Pengwin's idea of skipping the candles next time. Like, ho hum here comes Shoeless with another 1000.

I got thinking about why I have so many posts and in part it's because I have been around since the beginning, but mostly it's because I enjoy participating on the forums, it's fun, it helps my fantasy game, and I like trying to solve puzzles - so I post and they add up - as others can attest to for sure.

Seems to me what post counts are really measuring is the utility and enjoyment that we get out of participating on these forums - so really high post counts (and there are getting to be a lot) are an indicator of the health of our community. So instead of congratulating username, maybe we should be saying, congratulations to us, username just hit 10,000 posts.

It's all good - I shall keep trucking for now - some day I won't have the highest post count, it's inevitable, but when that some day comes, I will still be just as satisfied with being here, because the number of posts I have has never been a goal to chase.
