12 team Yahoo, one-year points only league, daily lineup
12 Forwards, 6 Defencemen, 3 Goalies 1 point for forward goal and assist 1 point for d-man goals and assist 2 points for goalie win 5 points for goalie shutout Just curious how folks think the first three round of this draft might go. Pretty experienced GM's. Goalies will be very valuable so do you pick 2 good ones early? I think so but appreciate your thoughts helping out a rookie manager. |

Yes with those cats, goalies will be a premium in your league.
Your draft might go something like this.... A) Tier A players like Malkin, Crosby, Stammer, Giroux, Tavares, Ove, Sedins will go early. B) Towards the end of round one/early round two (depends on # of teams), stud goalies would be picked......Quick, Lundy, Rinne, Miller, Price .....if I was picking late, I'd grab a goalie.... C) Bottom Tier-A players like Spezza, Kovy, Eberle, E. Staal, Kopitar, Kessel, Neal, Backstrom, Hall, RNH will be chosen .... D) Remaining bottom Tier -A players chosen (St. Louis, Parise, Benn, Perry) will go with a splattering of Dmen like Karlsson or Letang or Piets. E) Tier - B players will start to be picked like Voracek, Wheeler, Lupul, Getzlaf, Richards, Iggy, .... If you pick later in round one, grab a stud goalie and a very good fwd with your 2nd pick, if this is a snake draft. Have fun, hope this is what you were looking for....took a shot in the dark here.....COD

Yes it will be a snake draft. Thanks COD. Anybody else?
Would you grab 2 stud goalies if you have a middle or late round pick in Round 1 and early pick in round 2 or just get 1 great goalie and 1 great forward? |

12 teams and 3 goalies each. 36 goalies... I'd be taking 2 elite goalies if they're available. Maybe start a goalie run and reap the rewards in the 3rd and 4th rounds!

With that mid round pick (depending how "mid") I'd grab a stud forward and a stud goalie with that 2nd pick. Also depends on the "vibe" on the table, if you see a goalie picked early, the floodgates might open and its a good idea to land a goalie while you can. If you dress more than one goalie per week, taking two goalies back-to-back might be wise too. That is if your late in the snake draft. Lundqvist, Quick and Rinne would be my top 3. Miller, Rask, Price would be next... You do need to dress 12 fwds, so the pick up of a forward and goalie might be your best bet.

There will be 12 picks in each round. Round 1 order 1-12 ........Round 2 order 12-1......Round 3 order 1-12 etc. Snake Draft Format
Each manager plays all members on their team each night. Which ever 3 goalies I have, I must keep and play everyday so drafting 2 goalies with my 1st 2 picks might be/might not be a good idea? I would need to pick goalies who will play a ton. I don't know if Price will get many shutouts as the Habs look pretty bad on paper this year. Anybody else have any draft strategies or thoughts who to draft in the 1st 3 rounds? Thanks |

I would take a stud goalie in the first round as early as pick 5 with those values - they will contribute as much as the best skaters for sure. 2nd pick would be up in the air for me depending on who is selected in the draft to that point - if a tier one goalie is still available then I likely would take him.
