14 team Yahoo, one-year roto, daily lineups
No max moves/82 games max per position
G,A,+/-,PIM,PPP,SOG,FOW,HIT,BLK,W,GAA,SV,SV%
3C,3L,3R,5D,2G,5BN,2IR

Just curious how folks think the first round of this draft might go. Pretty experienced GM's.

If Yahoo rankings were followed this would be the order, just for some comparison:

Stamkos
Malkin
Giroux
Crosby
Ovechkin
Lundqvist
Perry
D. Sedin
Tavares
Quick
Rinne
Parise
Kovalchuk
Kessel

I'll give it a go. The keeper I commish has exactly the same stats except we also have points and shutouts. Getting rid of shutouts next year.

Malkin
Giroux
Crosby
Ovie
Stammer
Perry
Lundqvist
Quick
Rinne
Tavares
Neal
D.Sedin
Parise
Kovalchuk (Though I'd probably take Backes myself here)

Thanks guys - interesting Bnhershy - makes some sense how you lay out the first 2 rounds - only picks 1-5 without a goalie going into the 3rd round.

Malkin - Neal
Stamkos - Zetterberg
Crosby - Nash
Giroux - Backes
Ovechkin - Gaborik
Perry - Kiprusoff
D. Sedin - Price
Kovalchuk - Rask
Tavares - Miller
Lundqvist - Spezza
Quick - Datsyuk
Rinne - Parise
H.Sedin - Fleury
Karlsson - Howard

Interesting rankings so far. As expected, generally the early picks are more consistent but once you get later in the first and all throughout the second round, there are a lot of options.

Yup - first 5 are pretty much a lock even if the order varies a little. Value clearly defined - and then the options kick in.

Interesting to note both these guys have Perry going in the 6 slot. Kinda have a hard time seeing Dats and Zetts going in the 2nd round, although there is an argument for it.

Yep - I'm curious how people will value those players who had amazing seasons (perhaps a career one) and those who were quite underwheming, but still have plenty in the tank left for a rebound. I don't think there are many poor picks that early though, as it depends on strategy and how it's followed it up in the next few rounds.

I still have a few strategies for my pick at 9 depending on who's chosen from 6-8 and then going forward. Who knows who will be picked between then and pick 20. Should be exciting.

Same for me at 10, Brandon. Those mid round picks starting at 6 really do need to be read - have a pretty good idea of what I would like to do, if the draft allows it.

I like this forecast - Horrorfan going without a goalie into the 3rd round. Oh yeah.
