Quick and easy. Doing a little draft planning. Which of these four D would you want this year?
Cats: G, A, PPP, PIM, SOG, Hits M. Green Gonchar Ehrhoff Carle Edler Seabrook Del Zotto Hamonic EJ White Wisniewski Carlson Thanks!

I would take Green Edler Del Zotto and Seabrook if it were me.
Gamble on the upside of Green, Edler does very well with these categories, Del Zotto maybe he takes the next step, and Seabrook gets a lot of hits and will chip in with 30-35 points which is good enough for me. |

What jumps out at me is that it's a H2H league without blocked shots and +/-. That means, I go for usually the most offense players, but if any choices are close than multiple category strength wins out.
My four are Green, Edler, Wisniewski and Del Zotto are my choices, especially as they'd be (co-)leading their teams in PP time. I know Wisniewski might have to split time with JJ but he's proven that he can produce 50+ points with decent peripherals. Seabrook's advantage in hits isn't enough to compensate for his lack of offense. In a H2H league, you can make up the extra hits with forwards, but they are also less important if you have a strong offense. Depending on how your squad looks as the draft progress then perhaps I'd consider more grit on the back end but on a weekly basis it's not as crucial. It's also not the deepest league so someone like Seabrook may be available late in the draft, whereas the solid offensive ones will not be as available. If this was a roto league then Seabrook would be more valuable to me. Carlson is interesting but just misses the cut as I'd like to see it first, plus if picking four I'd rather not two of them on the same squad.

i agree with green and edler that everone seems to state. Edler is just the best of the bunch, and green just has so much upside (he could be the best in the league, or nothing, but you have to make a few gambles).
The other 2 come down to what you have on the rest of your team. If you took a perry, AO, lucic, brown, or have the depth to have a matt martin or cal clutterbuck getting a few games a week then you do not need a D that really gets many hits.... i have run with 20 point D that just get a ton of PIM or Hits in the past and it has worked since i overspent on light hitting forwards. With that in a vaacume i would be looking at hamonic, del zotto or carlson as your last 2. Carlson would hedge your bet on green so he gets a slight bump (if green is healthy he gets 60 points and carlson gets 35, if green is hurt then carlson gets 50)

Thanks guys for the quick response. It would appear the locks are: Green, MDZ and Edler. The final spot is where the real question lies. Wiz certainly has the ability to put up more G, A, PPP but does his durability come into question especially if I were to carry Green? Admittedly, I don't know enough about Hamonic. What will his role be now that the Isle have Streit and Viz? Seabrook was who I gravitated to right off the bat. The combo of hits and mid-30 point output stood out to me. When I looked a little deeper, he doesn't miss a lot of games either.
No love for EJ or Carle? @horrorfan: Blocked shots has been a discussion point during this past off-season. It's something I could see adding next year. We are really trying to keep a 60/40 balance between skater/goalie stats. Personal note: hate +/- as a category.

I'd go with Green, Carle, Edler and Del Zotto.
Carle is going to see a huge increase in his point totals with Tampa, I'm thinking 45-50 in a full season.

Blocked shots is a great category and I highly recommend it to give defensemen more value. Why do you want to keep a 60/40 split? I find that is giving goalies too much value. Another reason (albeit a minor one) to add another category is to make the total an odd number to increase the likelihood of more matchup wins. Helps with smack talk which is also an important part of a H2H league IMO.
