his game should translate well to the nhl and if he can bring it to the top level on a consistent basis, i think we will see a lot of similarites with bobby ryan...

tarasenko: big body, above average skater, explosive first steps, good puck skills, attacks the net, not overly physical but will take a hit to make a play, can battle in the corners/dirty areas, effective at moving the puck around, but is a better shooter, heavy shot, quick release, good hockey IQ, very coachable, loves the game, will be a fan favorite in blues town.

i think 70-75 points is a reasonable expectation when he figures out the nhl game in a few years time...

Unless the guy is at a Crosby/Malkin/Stamkos level I prefer being a bit more pessimistic. Expecting him to fall in the 70 point range with occasional spikes above 80 is reasonable. For some reason as I was typing that I thought of Patrick Kane in terms of offensive production.

I'm considering dealing him for dumba in a multi cat league that seems to value defensemen... thoughts?

On the surface I don't like that deal but I'd have to know more about the league.

I look at it this way, if Tarasenko was thrown into your 2012 draft where would he have gone? I can't imagine him going any lower than 3 (after Yak and possibly Galy).....where was Dumba drafted? That league would really have to favour D-men for me to make that move.

Ya didn't do it. I like Tarasenko a lot but I really like Dumba as well. Glad to see no one has picked 'Pull a Filatov' yet. I can't see Hitch 'misusing' the Blues' prized offensive prospect. That would be a bad coaching move and management wouldn't like that.

some similarities, but i think his game is different than brown's.

not as physical or defensively aware. not that tarasenko isn't physical or responsible defensively, just not at brown's level. they both like to shoot the puck, but I think tarasenko could be a step ahead in terms of offensive skill. better puck skills, better shot, better skater...

I think at best he is a 65-70 point guy and I wouldnt be surprised to see him flame out and head back to Russia or become a 3rd/4th line guy. Now not saying that will happen but if it does it wouldnt shock me.

how come? i am curious because i don't think there is any denying his skill and i think his game is safer to translate to the nhl than many rookies that are currently being hyped...
