Do you think trading Pacioretty and Neal for Rinne and Ellis is a fair trade?

Depends on your needs and you need goaltending and another dman (assuming Ryan and not Dan) (Thomas-stupidity/Bogosian-injury).

Your league looks balanced in its stat cats, with it being a little weighted to goalies.

Getting a premier goalie like Rinne is going to cost you, and Pacs and Neal aren't far off. If you could upgrade over Ellis, I'd look at it, but Ellis isn't bad.

In my league, goalies are every teams anchor and I would do this deal everytime, assuming salaries are a wash.

So let's say Rinne gets you 40 wins for 120 points, 10 overtime losses for another 10 points and 6 SHO for 18 more points - so that's plus 148 points then minus 150 points for GA - for a net of -2 points. I'm left wondering what the point would be to trade a stud like Neal for that. At least keeping Thomas won't cost you points.

If it's your team in your sig, you need G help bad. Your solid at D, though, so as much as I like Ellis, i'd be more prone to target a forward, especially if you're giving up two. That wilk hurt you. If it comes down to this being the deal, take it or leave it, i'd take it to sure up my goaltending.

Ahh the scoring is different - okay in that case Rinne would have been worth about 103 points or so last year and Neal slightly more.

This deal certainly makes a lot more sense now - goalies are too rare not to take a deal to get a solid starter in a 16 team league even if you are overpaying a bit - it comes back to you with the forward replacement pieces. Yeah , I think I would do it.

I really like you getting Rinne in a 16 team league...but I dont think Ellis fits your needs. Trying to get a Wing back since you have depth at Center/Defense.

As someone said above, starting goalies are anchors in a 16 team league. Neal is a big price to pay but Rinne will be one of the best goalies to have in your setup. I would try to get an upgrade on Ellis though. He seems like a throw-in on this deal
