In my keeper league, I would like to get Ryan.
But I have hard time evaluating him. He's a 35 goals scorer, 65pts... I would like to give Stastny and a prospect like Z. Phillips... Do you think it worth more...less...fair value?

Worth more than that based mostly on name value.
He's a four-time, 30 goal guy playing with (to a degree) Perry and Getzlaf, with the understanding that he'll finally get PP time once Selanne moves on. Plus, if he gets traded the teams being tossed around are Philly and Pitt (but they always are, aren't they?) My point is that Ryan is a fairly proven 65ish points type, but the perception is that there's plenty more in the tank. Stastny, meanwhile, has been fairly disappointing the past couple seasons and Phillips remains a prospect, albeit a good one. As a Ryan owner, I can tell you that the original deal wouldn't interest me. Maybe if you started with Vanek, you might get a kindling of interest. Perhaps Vanek + Phillips...Vanek + Granlund. |

I'll compare him to a guy like James Neal.
Neal was in a pretty good situation, perceived as a 50-60pt young goal scoring power forward in Dallas. Decent value in keeper leagues, but not elite. He gets traded and lands in a prime situation... And he ended up as the 4th best forward in my keeper league last year. Now, Bobby Ryan has way more talent and upside than James Neal. Ryan is just stuck in a situation where he isn't getting the prime ice time. No PP1. If he can land in Philly or Pittsburgh or ANYWHERE where he's a Line1 PP1 player, I think he realistically gets a 15pt boost minimum, upside for more. I have Bobby Ryan ranked comparable to players like Jamie Benn, Jeff Skinner, Matt Duchene, Evander Kane, Marian Gaborik, Henrik Zetterberg, etc. As a Ryan owner, I consider it to be a "Buy low" time for Ryan, so I'm definitely not in any sort of rush to trade him unless I'm getting fair value for him. Hope that helps.

Oil,
I love Ryan and think he is a lock for 35/65 and has the hands and talent to bag 40/80. As for his value - it's in the eye of the beholder - some GMs have faith in Bobby and some don't. Find an AVS or Stastny lover and they might nibble on that offer - I would never though. Your best trading chip right now may actually be Granlund as he's about to start his NHL career and GMs are ulta-high on him. I'm thinking Granlund+ could land you Ryan.
