Draft coming up and I have the third overall pick. I am 99% certain that Yakupov and Galchenyuk will be the first two picks. I was thinking of taking Schultz at number 3 as that would give me Brendan Smith and Schultz on the farm and should set me up for the future as I have a number of defense I won't be able to keep beyond 2013-14 no matter what. Is this too early to draft him? I think the Oilers are about to turn the corner and if so, somebody has to rack up the points on defense. Other guys available are everyone from 2012 draft class as well as Bartschi, Nyqvist, Toffoli, Bjugstad, and Silferberg. Are any of those guys too good to pass up?

I'd personally draft Baertschi before Schultz, but it is arguable. Baertschi has big upside and is in a great situation. Schultz is too, but I'll take the forward over the D unless I'm in much bigger need of a dman.

Rocket,
I would go with these guys ahead of Schultz: 1. Baertschi, F 2. Grigorenko, F 3. Dumba, D I think Schultz has stud potential but you already have (5) good, young starting D and another future star (B.Smith) on your farm - thus, at 3rd overall I would take the best overall talent long-term.

I'd probably take Baertschi, because he's a winger. Then Grigorenko.
Remember, Schultz is from the same draft class as Stamkos and Doughty. He's still very young, still developing, but has had two or three years of development compared to a Baertschi or Grigorenko.
