Kulikov currently holds my final (4th) Defensive Keeper spot, Behind Doughty, Phaneuf and Edler
Garrison and Gardiner are currently owned by GM's who are looking to move them before they get dropped back into the draft. My Question... a) Stick with Kulikov, then try to draft one of these guys if possible b) Try a pick up Gardiner for a mid round draft pick and drop Kulikov c) Try to pick up Garrison for a mid round draft pick and drop Kulikov (Mid round draft means Rnd 5 - 7 for me...wouldn't want to go higher) As I currently have Edler and Phaneuf, I'm a little weary of doubling up on D men per team adding Garrison or Gardiner, but I also don't want to miss the boat. Which Defender hold's the most fantasy value based on my Cats below? Thanks boys. I have 6 days to lock down my team.

id think about gardiner. i would not want to trade just a pick for a defenseman and then drop a defenseman. can you not package kulikov and a very late pick for gardiner. you should look to find a team that will be able to keep kulikov and not have to throw him away, thats the team you need to trade with.imo.

In the past he offered me 502 pt Tender Theodore for my pick 21(3) or the 3rd pick in the 7th round of our draft. Gardiner, albeit a developing prospect had only 227 fan pts. So I'd be looking to offer no more than that same 7th round pick. Whether I include Kulikov or not, if I obtained Gardiner, Kuli would then be a drop on both my team and his as he's left with Karlsson, Shattenkirk, Boyle and Carlson. He ALSO has Ehrhoff (303 fan pts on the heels of a disappointing year). If I could land Ehrhoff for the same 7th rounder...would you take him, Gardiner or stand pat with Kulikov? Now's the time to strike against this team. He ended up loaded with players due to smart drafting, trading and Waiver adds. But that means he must move them or risk losing them for nothing.

I like Kulikov the best out of these three and then would rank them Gardiner -- Garrison.
I wouldn't make a deal for Gardiner but I would definitely look into picking him up in the draft.

Same consideration, is Ehrhoff a substantial upgrade over Kulikov and/or Gardiner for a 7th round pick?

My vote is stick with Kulikov. I think you made a great move swapping Wideman for a high pick and keeping Kulikov and I think that moving a mid-round pick for Gardiner or Garrison and dropping Kulikov would be a step in the opposite direction.
My two cents. |

Agreed man...and thanks again for the kudos on Wideman. How does you view change (if at all) if I where to nab Ehrhoff with my 7th round pick this year, ofcourse costing me Kulikov? The youth movement hasn't worked out so well for me in the past 2 years, so taking a chance keeping both Kulikov and Voracek scares me a little (considering Kuli may be available in the draft for me). Voracek's upside is worth the spot in my opinion, likely dependent on him lining with Giroux. So it's either.. Doughty, Phaneuf, Edler and Ehrhoff or Doughty, PHaneuf, Edler and Kulikov

So, I added in Ehrhoff for consideration later in the thread.
I was prepared to offer 7th round 3rd pick for Ehrhoff. He's come back advising that I could have Gardiner or Ehrhoff for my 8th round, 3rd pick (I currently possess 2 8th round picks). I like it when the competition trumps my offer in my favor. So...looks like the question is... Stick with Kulikov or Spend a VERY late draft pick 8th round (of 11 total) and get a little more proven in D with Ehrhoff all to acompany Doughty, Edler and Phaneuf. It's mine if I want it...Thoughts?

Well, if I'm being honest I do think that Ehrhoff is a slight upgrade on Kulikov, but honestly I think it's marginal at best. They're pretty on par with each other when you compare last season's stats...so really it depends on how you feel about each player.
Does Kulikov stop being a bandaid boy early in his career and stay healthy for a full 82, and take advantage of Garrison's departure? Does Ehrhoff step it up after last season...in the first year of a big contract it's not unusual to see a big dip in production, not to mention he moved from Vancouver to Buffalo. Clearly Ehrhoff isn't a keeper for this guy, so really you're doing him a favour. Ehrhoff should be easy to redraft as well IMO due to his struggles last year. For me it'd probably be a pass but I could see the argument for taking it for that really late pick. |

When Campbell is done in FLA, Kuli will be running the show from the blueline. Grab Gardiner if you can. good luck don't forget about MR Myers who IMO will be a dandy moving fwd. That's why I have Ehr. ranked lower here.
