Daoust makes a good point but most likely a big part of the reason he won't fight any longer is because he isn't innocent. Between being tired of arguing and the fact he knows something will be uncovered sooner or later he may as well stop now.

I don't believe he is innocent, but some people act like he owes them a fight to the finish for their own satisfaction. By giving up he loses his championships and a lot of respect, but he is going to have to accept that consequence.

true. i do think that this was potentially a smart move by the armstrong camp.

either way, cycling is so f*cked up anyway. can't see how any of this helps the sport.

It's pretty well known that Lewis flunked 3 drug tests headed into the 1988 Olympics and should have been banned but the US Olympic commitee over-turned the decision. The stimulants he tested positive for were claimed to be from cold medicine...

If Lewis was clean I'll eat all 400m of a synthetic track.

Ya, totally agree. Lance knows what and how he won. If he knows everyone was doping then he can be proud of what he's achieved without any sort of guilty conscience. It's nice to see somebody confident in themselves for a change... I mean, how does Clemens look now?

I wonder if any of these people being interviewed are being paid to do so.
I mean I am a washed up "whatever" no fame no money, what do I have ot lose throwing "myself" under the bus and dragging a whole bunch of much more famous people with me. If he was paid nothing, gains nothing from it and was not coached all the way through this whole fiasco I might give him more credibility.
I know that 60 minutes is credible and needs no justification for a story, but I bet it will sell a lot of air time and commercial space and it is a pretty saucy topic right now.

Reminds me of = Jose Canseco.

The other thing, saying that he was caught but the ICU covered it up.... If they were the governing body, they held the power to decide what should or should not be investigated.
If the ICU can not govern themselves and create, enforce and adjudicate their own rules, how valid of an entity are they.

Bottom line is that quitting now and being declared "guilty", while not participating in the charade, might hurt for a year but then will likely fade and never be a factor again. This might be his only way out.

My analogy: I get a parking ticket in Toronto for $50. I am not guilty at all. I argue with the parking guy, an hour is wasted, he tells me to go to court. I go to court, wait in line for two hours and they set a date 9 month away. 9 months later I go to court, wait 8 hours on a bench all day, taking the day off work and they adjourn my case. I asked to return the next day. I spend an hour negotiating with the court asking for another day because I can not take another day off work, they tell me to come back tomorrow.
You know what..Screw you all, do what you want and send me a bill.

Instead of losing another 4+ hours in court after already wasting 11 hours of my time, it is easier to let them convict me in absentium, pay the $50.00 and move on with my life. At this point who cares whether I am "guilty" or not, we all know the court will do what it wants and I have no real scenario where I "win".

All I know is Armstrong has (apparently) ten people testifying against him and that somehow has people convinced he is guilty.

I'm pretty sure I can find ten people who claim I am an a-hole. Doesn't mean I....well, ok, maybe that's a bad analogy. But you get my point.

OK, so we know that Armstrong is an a-hole, but what about this doping stuff?
