Default Another keeper advice thread: Perry, Kopitar, Benn, Pietrangelo?

I'm looking for some advice on at least narrowing down my keeper options for next season:

The players I have that are worth keeper consideration are in my sig along with the scoring.

I am fairly set on Perry and Kopitar as things stand now, which leaves me 2 spots for Benn, Nash, Skinner, Pietrangelo ( I really include Enstrom only as a point of reference for what I had on D to finish the season)

I got burned keeping Price last year and would have been in the $ if not for his horrible start. Now I am hesitant to make a D a keeper for fear of being burned again, but I really can't fathom putting Pietrangelo back into the pot. Most of the top tier guys lake Crosby and Malkin are on teams that don't need an upgrade in keepers, so I have limited options in a trade up there, and we don't allow draft pick trading, but I could probably get Backstrom in a 2 or 3 for 1 deal, as his owner is REALLY thin for keepers.

Do I keep one of Benn, Nash or Skinner, Keep 2 and give up on D, or try to package forwards for Backstrom?

Thanks in advance

Odds are you're not going to be able to pull off a package for Backstrom including Skinner. Nobody is going to want to keep Skinner in a 16-team keep 4, especially after the season he just had.

I'd toss out a package of Benn + Nash and try to get Backstrom and keep Perry/Kopitar/Backstrom/Pietrangelo personally.

I second that.

I know defensemen are not big values in points-only league but I feel like having a good one (and you know Pietrangelo is a good one) is a source of relief as the position is really thin. I barely lost my league last year because I only had Mark Streit as a decent defenseman and this year, I'm looking to either trade for one or focus on it at the draft.

So yeah, I'd also try to package Nash and Benn for Backstrom. If it doesn't work, I'd keep Benn over Nash and go with Pietrangelo.

no distinction of forward positions and points only.
so, kopitar, benn and perry are equal.
when you try to make a deal, keep that in mind.
if a guy wants perry or kopitar instead of benn in a package deal for backstrom,
i would do it...
all you wanna do is upgrade one of the three if you can...

Yah for your format I would try to package a Nash and Benn deal for Backstrom, Nash and Benn are alot more valuable in a format with more perphials but in your format a Backstrom type player is a stud.
Also think Henrik Sedin you can probably pick him up cheaper and with A/G's being worth the same he's the equivalnt to a 50 goal scorer and will come chepaer with less prestige

In a 8F/3D, I'd keep Nash & Benn.

If it was 6F/4D, I'd consider AP... but not in a league with only 3D.

Here's how I do my math:
Nash = 72pt forward.
Benn = 72pt forward.
AP = 50pt defenseman.

You have 8Fx16=128F in play. Last year's #129F scored 43pts.
You have 3Dx16=48D in play. Last year's #49D scored 27pts.

So... a 72pt forward is a +29 over the waiver wire forwards.
So... a 50pt defenseman is a +23 over the waiver wire defensemen.

This is why I'd keep the forwards.

I can't improve on this post so I will just say I agree.

Thanks for all the feedback!

Unfortunately, we are in Vancouver and the Sedins are both on the same homer team, and both horribly over valued by their owner, so there will be no luck there.

I made a pitch to the Backstrom owner to see if he had any interest. I started with an offer of Nash and Pietrangelo and we'll see if he bites. It is good advice that the forwards are all really in the same boat though +/-5 to 10 points and I have a lot of flexibility in what I can give him, so fingers crossed for that.

For some reason I've never thought of Hockey in VBD terms, even though I do it for football, so thanks for reminding me of that Pengwin7! If I don't get any movement I'll likely keep the top four forwards and be done with it.

Pengwin7's post is all you need to know for your decision.

I also would go Nash and Benn easily if I was you.
Lots of D out there who might be under the radar a little bit who will put up almost the same points as AP.
