TSN's Craig Button just threw out his list of the best players not yet in the NHL, but who have been drafted (hence, no McKinnon, Drouin, etc).

Thought it was interesting, to say the least.

Big Schultz fan, but to see him #1 was surprising..as was Yakupov at #5. Although, given his ranking system I suppose I can see why.

Curious to hear other people's impressions of the list.

The real eye-popper for me is Ritchie at 11. Huh??? Ahead of guys like Hamilton and Granlund???

Can anyone explain this?

Also he snubs top goalie prospects like Markstrom in favor of the recently drafted Subban and Vasilevski.

I have never really been a fan of him. Everytime I see his ranking I always feel like he's just trying to create drama.

I wanted to quote just about everyone who posted to this thread. He certainly does seem like he like to create drama, likely in an effort to create traffic to tsn.ca. It's either that, or he has the absolute worst case of what-have-you-done-for-me-lately-itis.

Brett Ritchie ahead of Granlund and Grigorenko at 28 is just laughable. It blows my mind that this guy gets paid to put up this garbage.

Personally, I am a big fan of Buttons and his ability to take some risks when it comes to his projections. Like most, I dont always agree with everything he posts, but I am also smart enough to realize this this guy has been a scout/GM for most of his career and probably sees things that a lot of us "armchair scouts/GM's" dont know about or sees. He doesnt just sit around looking at numbers, this guy actually travels and watches these kids play live.

Just out of curiosity, has anyone gone back over time and looked at his previous draft projections and done some comparisons to those projections vs actual results?
