Sven Baertschi: This kid has a ton of potential and I wouldn't dare betting against him, but expecting Jeff Skinner like numbers in his rookie season is a little much.
Sure, he was successful and pretty impressive in a short late season stint with the Flames, but he still needs to develop as a player and thats even more important because of his stature. Jakob Silfverberg: Should make immediate impact, because he's clearly NHL ready and he will get top six ice time as well as powerplay time with the Sens. Ryan Johansen: I've always been a big fan, he impresses me almost every game I watch him play. However, he's more likely to make a "quiet" impact and develop more as a player rather than a scorer. I can see him getting his hitting game going, playing on the PK and learning how to block shots. Tom Wilson: He is certainly capable of stepping into the NHL within a few years and when he's ready, he will make immediate impact. He reminds me Dustin Brown, except he's a lot bigger (6'4") and already comes in at 203 pounds! Nail Yakupov: There's no doubt this kid has great hands and a lot of potential, but I wonder if he can break into the NHL this season and really have a rookie of the year type season. Vladimir Tarasenko: I've always been a big fan of his and I'm very excited to see him play in the NHL. This kid is slick, smart and has played with men prior to signing his entry-level contract with the Blues. Jaden Schwartz: Schwartz is a guy I could see putting up pretty nice numbers as well, because he's likely to get powerplay time in addition to an increase in playing time. Also, there are absolutely no guarantees Andy McDonald stays healthy or Chris Stewart is productive, so Schwartz will likely benefit and play more minutes if those players aren't getting it done. Sean Couturier: Couturier really impressed me during the playoffs and made the most of the minutes that were given to him. He was very effective shutting down Pittsburgh's top players and excellent on the penalty kill as well. Look for this kid to continue to improve year after year, he will be a star if everything goes according to planned in Philly. Andrew Shaw: Shaw jumped into the Chicago lineup when they were in need of a boost and really impressed the Blackhawks organization and their fans as well. He had 23 points in 37 games and can play either centre, left wing or right wing. I think he could be the "X-Factor" for Chicago this season. He doesn't have great upside, but he might be a guy you want to stash on your farm teams in fantasy leagues. Cody Hodgson: Hodgson was handed a gift when he was dealt to a team that was in need of young players and a centre. He now gets to battle it out with Tyler Ennis for the number one centre role and my gut tells me that due to his size and ability, he will be on the top line for the Sabres going forward. I'm a big fan of Tyler Ennis as well, but I think Buffalo really is thrilled with Hodgson and they'll use him as the number one centre.

Don't overrate Shaw's offensive upside. And Tom Wilson is years away. But I like the rest of your list

Hard for me to know that much about prospects when I don't watch them as much as other people, but I appreciate the feedback.

I love your list DMV, just wondering why guys like Granlund and Huberdeau were left off it?? Obviously you can't mention everyone.. I just thought because guys like Hodgson and Wilson were in here, you would have added the top two "potential" candidates for the calder this year!! HAHA..

I think Chris Kreider needs to be added to this list. I would think he would be a near lock for the top 6 on the Rangers, especially while Gaborik is out recovering from his surgery.

I made this list to talk about players that I'm not 100 percent sure about and wanted to express my views on them.
