It seems like Skinner was the model for this type of new generation player.
In other words, what rookie drafted lower than 5th or 6th overall will be in the best position to have the biggest rookie season? Considering situation as well as pedigree and overall talent/work ethic... Will Tarasenko shine in St. Louis? Will Baertshi rip it up in Calgary? Will Grigorenko stick in Buffalo? Will Granlund or Coyle make waves in Minny? Not limited to the players I just mentioned, which player in this type of category do you see standing out from the rest? Cheers. |

I'd say Baertschi

Agreed.
I have a feeling he's gonna be a real spark-plug for the Flames' offence. |

Baertschi will be the man in Calgary.

I thought the OP was looking for guys that got drafted this year, not in the top 5, who will surprisingly make the jump to the NHL and be impressive ala Jeff Skinner.
Unfortunately, I don't think anyone from this years draft class is going to pull a Skinner. Guys with the biggest shot of doing so, in my opinion, are: Grigorenko and Hertl |

Faksa could be a good choice to make the team out of camp this year. He only has Cody Eakin to compete with for #2C since Ribeiro& Ott are gone and Roy is injured.

Depends exactly what you mean.
I assume your looking for a rookie that was just drafted and surprises people by making his respective team and playing well. A guy that sort of went under the radar. I'm going to say Girgensons or Faksa. Both have NHL size, both play a game that would be NHL ready, and both are talented. They aren't slick skating goal scorers like Skinner but could be talented players nonetheless.
