Just wondering what I should do with him. Have had a few offers for him. Only got him for two more yrs before he goes into a free agent auction. Plus his injury so ready only a yr and a half. Been offered lehner straight up, Gerbe and 3rd rd prospect pick, peumpel straight up. So not great offers. Should I look for best possible deal or just hold onto him? Team 2 in sig

Now is not the time to be trading Gaborik. Says you protect 10 but I only see 9 here?

Yeah I agree with Rick, now's not the time to deal him, especially if they aren't great mind blowing offers either. He'll be great with the new revamp of the Rangers... With Nash there now and Richards, he doesn't have to play the role of being the only "go to" guy any more.
The shoulder and him missing the first bit of the season will be a pain to swallow, but once he returns he should be gold. pass on those offers!

It boggles the mind how little respect Gaborik gets amongst poolies.
This is a guy who has scored 40+ goals 3 of the last 5 seasons, and in the two other seasons he only played 17 and 62 games. Sure he's an injury risk, but nowhere near such a risk to merit such complete disrespect. Gerbe? Lehner? Puempel? These are insulting offers and I would make that known to the other GM, politely of course.

I made the playoffs so I only protect 9. There's also a free agent auction and if I get anybody they go towards my keepers as well. I'm quite happy with him on my team. He really isn't getting any love. Traded Rene Bourque and Havlat to get him. Thanks guys.

I'm down with Shoeless and ross here.
Gaborik isn't the most durable, but when he's in the line-up he tends to deliver pretty reliably. I personally don't think you get good value for him in a trade so I'm usually reluctant to do so. Trading him when he's injured to start the season only exacerbates an already disadvantageous situation. He should be back around Thanksgiving, I think. I'd just stick it out. It's what I intend to do.

Owning Gabby is not for nervous Nelly's, OP. Judging by your post, you're a Nelly. Trade him if you can't stomach uncertainty. I obtained him 3 years ago from a Nelly in my league. He's been awesome 2 of 3 years.
When Gabby is hurt, he's hurt for a long time. He rarely gets nagging injuries where you don't know whether to put him in the lineup week to week. I see this as a positive. Nelly will see this as a negative. |

Love the "Nelly" concept, nice one CallMeJerry! I fully agree with your take on Gabby, yes he will end up on IR but when he's not he performs big time. Too many GMs discount taking guys like Gabby due to the injury risk. That said, and with all due deference to the Nellys out there, having too many injury-prone guys in your lineup (i.e., not being ENOUGH of a Nelly from time to time) can cost you fantasy championships.

Don't understand why there is a need to deal him and accept the best possible deal you can get. If you're not getting good value for him, or the trade isn't helping your team, don't trade him. Pretty much as simple as that to me.

Ha I'm not sure if u could consider me a nelly but I'm close. Just feel like I need to make a trade to make my team better. Getting traders itch. These trades obviously aren't.
