Team is in sig. My weakness is obviously D - do I overpay to strengthen it? Bear in mind I have the 2nd overall pick in the rookie draft (probably grab Galchenyuk).

Would I be crazy to accept this offer from the AP owner? I know it's overpayment - he says he needs a big overpayment to let AP go. Is it still huge overpayment if we take the picks out?

I'm not sure the amount of negotiating that has been done back and forth on this proposed deal, but I think that you are giving up too much.

Granted, Duchene is coming off a disappointing season, but it looks to me as if the other GM is trying to make the ultimate "buy low" offer here.

I would counter with Duchene and Strome for AP, and remove the rookie pick upgrade from the equation. If the rookie pick upgrade is a must to get the deal done, then I really think that the opposing GM should be adding something from his side to even it up.

One thing to consider - where do you think Strome would rank hypothetically if he were available in the rookie draft? You can use that as a bit of a gauge to detemine his value.

I agree that you need help at D, but I would try to negotiate this deal a bit more in your favour.
