Default Halak out to start the season!

At least if you listen to what Shoeless says. It goes like this:

1. Dobber reads a standard blurb about Halak being slightly behind schedule in the healing process after his ankle sprain injury. It is not uncommon that such an injury takes slightly longer to heal for goalies, so this is not a surprise. Again, not really news because Halak is still expected to be ready for camp according to the Blues.

2. That info goes into Dobber's head and transforms into "this could bother Halak all season long, so I'll post that in the ramblings".

3. Shoeless reads the ramblings and then posts that Halak will not be ready to start the season.

4. (possibly) That spreads like wildfire because Shoeless is well regarded and we end up with LOTS of people making a whole bunch of bad decisions based on faulty information.

Can someone please explain to me where the critical thinking was here? Shoeless? Dobber? Seriously, this is completely ridiculous.

i remember reading something like that in the ramblings, didnt buy it tho, i own halak and rask in a league we just drafted, not the least bit worried tho.

you are right that basically no one is infallible so you must take the info you are given and assess it yourself or double check that its true/possible.

there is a ton of time between now and camp even, im sure they will ensure their number 1 goalie will be ready for the opener, maybe hes not as well prepared as he was last year due to having to rehab most summer, but theres no way i dont expect him to start game 1. blues brass i get the feeling do not have as much trust in elliott yet, much like us fantasy poolies.

Im pretty sure both Dobber and Shoeless were posting their opinions....is there a problem with that?

And who exactly are you to be needing an explanation for why they posted?

Remember one thing, the members of this forum and their opinions are why this forum is here. As a member, if you dont like a post, move on.

As a fantasy hockey manager, if you are reading threads and not doing your own research based on others opinions....you deserve whatever happens to your team.

Yes, Dobber posted his opinion, but Shoeless posted as if it was completely certain that Halak would miss the start of the season. No opinion. Then he based his advice on the so-called "fact" that Halak would miss the start of the season. There is a huge problem with that.

Who am I? What kind of question is that? Oh, so you are completely fine if posters go around giving so called "advice" when it's complete junk? We know that Gaborik will miss the start of the season. What if I start giving advice to people saying that he will play 82 games? That's BS and you know it and the whole "if you don't like it, move on" is complete bullshit. Spreading misinformation is NOT okay.

I agree with sentium here, misinformation is not ok. Especially when so many people use this site as their main source of information. I own halak in my Dynasty and had just traded crawford (still have howard). basesd on the fact that i dont think elliott will repeat what he did last year, and halak has only improved each season. But upon hearing those remarks i started to panick!
But as a professional Fantasy Hockey G.M....lol. i also have learned to take my time and do my own research.

I just dont want to have to double check everything that is posted here, one of the best parts about this site that seperates it from others is the quality of information. let's not let it slide, otherwise Ecklund may get into the action

Yes, I am COMPLETELY fine with members posting their opinions. If I feel that they are wrong I would do my own research before making any decisions, especially when my leagues involve money. I would be a fool to 100% trust anyone with decisions involving my own team.

Any yes....who are you to be calling these guys out? Im finding certain members let their post counts go to their head. You are a member here, just like the rest of us.

You really need to take a step back from the forums and put things into perspective. The fact that this bothered you so much, you felt the need to wake up on a Saturday morning to make this thread is strange in itself.

1. It's hardly morning here in Sweden. In fact, right now it's 7.30 PM and when I posted I just came home from work.

2. Sorry about spending a couple of minutes writing a post where I care about the quality of information sharing on this website.

3. The "who am I?" question means that it doesn't matter who I am, because everyone here should be bothered if misinformation is being spread around.

4. If you put your words together in a certain way, it's denoted as fact. If you put them together in another way, it could be opinion. Funny way how words work, right? I don't know if you knew this, but on this forum we usually trust each other pretty well because much of what is posted becomes common knowledge pretty fast, so we post it as being fact. That's not weird, as most of us read the same news blurbs and so on. However, sometimes things fall through the cracks and someone overreaches. That's what Shoeless did here. I reacted.

5. If you are going to accept the spreading of misinformation, then I take it that you are juuuuuuuust fine with mediocrity. I am not and I will always speak up whenever I see something wrong, no matter if it's about fantasy hockey, gas mileage or dietary advice. Whatever it is, if misinformation is being spread and it takes me about a minute to pipe in, I will do that. Don't you worry about my health. BUT! If we have loads of people like you on this site, people who are fine with spreading misinformation and not speaking up, then this site is effectively in the shitter.

Sentium is correct in one thing - my information from Bluesnotes Blog was dated and no longer accurate - after Sentium pointed that out in the thread in question, I searched the updates and found that indeed Halak is believed by some in the organization to be on track to be ready for the start of the season. Seems he is somewhere in the late stages of rehab and the early stages of off-season conditioning. He was cleared for activity to begin July 21 as near as I can determine.

It was my mistake and I apologize for making it.
