I would take Seguin, you are deep on D but could certainly use the help up front. That, combined with the difference in salary makes this a very attractive deal. While Doughty is an elite d-man, Seguin is poised for stardom and when you watch the kid, that burst of speed through the neutral zone and his sick hands are a treat to watch. How many 20 year-olds put up 65+ points? I don't think 80 points is out of the question for Seguin this season, and I think he will be a regular fixture in the top ten in points for years to come.

Take Seguin and pocket the extra cap space as a bonus.

Your defense doesn't appear to be as deep as you would have led me to believe in your initial post (despite having those Ranger multicat studs).

I would only pull the trigger if you're having cap issues, but I doubt the extra $3M will make or break you.

Bottom line is you already have a championship team, and I expect Doughty will re-emerge as a top-5 this season. Why mess with a good thing?
Thanks Blayze, this is a great point. As far as messing with a good thing, there are times when I am really guilty of making trades just because it's fun to trade, and it is boring to sit on the same team without doing anything. Though I am sure I can keep most of it together, I may have to tweak it a bit as far as raises go, I do have to re-sign a few guys this year who are due for raises and may put me over the cap, or dangerously close to it. I have won the league 2 times in the last 3 years with this team, so i know it is a quality team and has the chance to compete for a few more years.

As far as my defense being deep, remember it is a 24 team league. You can't have 2 or 3 Doughty's, or Weber's, or Chara's, or Karlsson's on every team :-)

I have dished out a lot of rep, but have run out for today and have also repped a couple people too much lately so I have to spread it around. Thanks all for your insight; if I haven't repped you yet for your contribution in this thread, it is coming.
