I'm one of the GMs that fell victim to Tim Thomas's decision to not play next year. I won this league last year and would love to repeat (team in sig). I have a few options to rectify my #2 G spot and would love for you guys to weigh in with your thoughts. A few things you need to know is that we are only aloud 2 G on our active NHL rosters. We can have up to 10 prospects (with <82 NHL games played). Here are the options I'm considering:
1. Wait until the season starts and drop TT if he doesn't return. Then cycle my prospect G in the #2 G spot. That would give me starts from Lindback (likley #1 G in TB), Bishop and Irving...heck maybe even Lack although I doubt he's in the NHL next year. 2. Drop TT now and pick up Brodeur. I get a bonafide starter for next year. 3. Drop TT now and pick up Neuvirth. He'll likely split starts but it will be on a good team. Right now I'm leaning towards option 1 as it gives me the most starts and I can see TT decides to come back if he's traded this offseason. Option 2 though takes out all of the risk of not having a starter (say Lindback doesn't win the #1 job in TB). Thoughts?

I would secure myself a for sure starter and snatch Broduer.

It is pretty much a matter of who do you think will do better, Borduer or Lindback.
Keep in mind Lindback is a first time starter in a new city that doesn't have a good defense in front of him. Broduer for me. Plus if Broduer craps the bed or Lindback rises to the challenge you can always drop Broduer and still have Lindback.

So you guys put no stock in TT's possible return? He's basically worthless?

I would go with option 1 like you said. You have Lindback who will likely start, and Thomas has agreed to waive his no trade clause so I do see the opportunity for him to be traded and resume playing. He doesn't strike me as the type of guy to take a year off.
I wouldn't put my faith in Brodeur. The Devils have taken a large step back with Parise leaving, although they were solid defensively. Brodeur's body hasn't been able to keep up with him in recent years, so I would expect mediocre numbers. Although these may be similar to Lindback's, I would give him a better chance at staying healthy with a greater potential to excel.

This is a no brainer... pick up Brodeur.
Guaranteed #1 on a winning team... much better than your other alternatives. |

like the cavalry... a bit late...
But I would also grab Brodeur. He has as much left than Thomas (1-2 years), he's sign for the next 2 years, clear #1... Who knows where TT may end up? Colombus (for example)? IIIIIiiiiiiiiiissssssssshhhhhhhhh
