Today I was asked by the new girl at work what I do for fun in my spare time. I responded: I spend alot of time doing hockey pools.

Her: What\'s a hockey pool? - Hmmm how to respond?

I tried to explain and she just looked confused until one of the other girls said that I bet on hockey...I tried to explain that it is more than that, but figured it best left at that.

She thought it was like water polo....hockey played in a swimming pool.

She then said: But hockey is over, what do you do in the off season?

My response: Hockey pools

She clearly thought I was mad.

Oh forsure, mine thinks she can do stupid things just because I am doing \"hockey pools\" during the summer. Its her way of justifying everything.. I hear it everyday.

I am just getting to the point when I don\'t want to hear her nagging, so I throw out a \"hey baby do you think Briere will stay in Buffalo or will he test the Free Agent Waters\". [cue the dumb look on her face... HAHA..]

Guys, guys...The modern man is sensitive and understanding. Don’t start a conflict about it... make her an assistant GM of your fantasy team. That way you can enjoy it together.

I ask my partner her opinion on trades I am thinking of making and keep quizzing her on the players on my roster.
She is getting pretty knowledgeable to the point when Crosby scores a goal she asks if Whitney got an assist. Or she scans the scores in the paper in the hope that Broduer didn’t get another shut-out (he is on another team).

Plus add a few hundred bucks to the household coffers every once and a while and that can help it all seem worth it.
