Default Billy Hamilton blazing on the basepaths

Courtesy CBS: Cincinnati shortstop prospect Billy Hamilton seems to have a difficult time staying in one place. After racking up 103 steals last year, Hamilton hasn't slowed down and already swiped 71 bases in 60 games during his first season for Class A Bakersfield. He recorded a whopping four stolen bases in a game last Wednesday, and his season total is more than the combined tally of the next two players in the California League combined (66). "I’ve got the green light at all times," Hamilton, who has been caught stealing 14 times this season, told MLB.com. "It’s helping me learn a lot. If I go and get thrown out, the coaches tell me what I did wrong."

He might be the most exciting prospect that isn't in the major leagues right now.

Thanks for the update! Do you expect a cup of coffee this season and maybe full time next?

Definitely possible, but I would say he's more likely to be called up by the Reds sometime in the middle of next season.

He's definately on my radar, when do you see Arenado and Myers getting a call up?

Myers will be up very soon and same goes for Arenado. I'd say near the all star break.

I don't expect Hamilton to get called up until September. From my understanding, he's still very raw defensively and might have to go the B.J. Upton route to CF. A reason to somewhat sell high on since he will qualify at SS for at least another year, but in no means am I implying that you have to sell because Hamilton will still be a "four category" beast as an outfielder

"I'm wondering if he is outrunning the ball or if they can't throw him out," former major leaguer Rickey Henderson said. "But the success he's having is amazing. And it reminds me of the time I was playing and the desire to be a base-stealer. All he wants to do is run. And with that mentality, I think he's going to be a fantastic base-stealer. It shows he loves what he's doing out there."
