so they can still get all the players they need signed before the start of the season they just dont get as big of a buffer as other teams do

1. There's no 10% over the cap this summer because of the lack of a new CBA. We don't know how a future CBA might handle the matter.

2. Assuming that same rule will be applied next summer (and going forward), that's the thing that could be used for other stuff. Regardless, it hampers them, just as it should. It was a cap circumvention deal and now it's biting them in the ass.

if it is and then goes back down in the new cba not having that space might actually benefit the flyers

as far as it being a circumvention deal i dont agree the cba was written to allow it to be done

if they didnt want these deals they should have done a better job writing the thing imo

if the other teams operate under the assumption that the cap goes up for next season like most believe is going to happen when the cap goes down they are going to be caught having to dump salaries to get compliant

i dont see them getting a roll back out of the pa this time around especially if they get 50%

so the flyers will not end up as far over a likely lowered cap as other teams will so they will likely have less to do to get compliant

That's completely nonsensical and it has nothing to do with the Pronger situation.

First off, the league owners are part of the decision-making process. They wouldn't **** themselves by suddenly lowering the cap by a large amount. Even so, how in the world would it benefit the Flyers? Pronger still eats up 5 million of their cap during the offseason, giving them 5 million less room to maneuver. There is just no way that can be spun into a positive. It ties their hands, no two ways about it.

Also, the league will get the player share down to or very close to 50% or a lockout is guaranteed. The other pro leagues in North America use 50% and work just fine. There are more owners losing money than making money, so that is a dealbreaker for them.

Even if they do a rollback they will still be able to have the cap at where it is now through various tools and whatnot.

Either way, the Flyers have a big rope around their hands and it's called Pronger. Saying that it might benefit the Flyers because "oh, we couldn't even overspend the cap anyway so we're closer to some random rollback" is just illogical nonsense. IF there is a rollback then it will affect EVERY contract in the league and the Flyers are still in the exact same spot as before relative to everyone else.
