Default Adam Lind

I'm right up there with the biggest of Jays fan, but come on. What the heck is wrong with this guy? I'm strongly considering dropping him for Steve Cishek or ANYONE who is going to contribute.

Terrible start to this year, terrible second half of last year, I don't need this black hole of no production on my team, especially at 1B.

Perhaps it's stupid, but I just can't wait for him anymore. He's one of only two players on my team I originally drafted in the inagural draft 4 years ago, but this is just too much.

Anyone else frustrated with this guy?

I own Adam Lind in one very deep league, which forces me to continue to roster him despite the fact he has done little more than nothing all season long. Two things have me concerned:

1. His inability to improve his ability to hit lefthanders.
2. The back injury that has plagued him the better part of the past calendar year.

Lind is hardly a valuable fantasy asset, but he is still capable of hitting .250-.260 with 20 homers over a full season when healthy. Being exploited by southpaws will always limit him (suggesting that maybe he should play primarly against righthanders), but I really think the back injury his hurting his production most right now. What makes it worse is the fact that it is hard to say if or when that will improve.

Lind is not a viable cleanup hitter, plain and simple. The most positive thing is he's improved his batting eye. The negative thing is if you watch Lind, he's too damn patient for his own good. He knows the first pitch coming is a strike, but he will never take a hack at it which ends up being favourable for the pitcher.

I wrote this yesterday in another thread about Lind.

*****
Drop Lind.
His last 8 months of big league play:

2011 Apr: .274
2011 May: .500
2011 June: .311
2011 July: .210
2011 Aug: .196
2011 Sep: .203

2012 Apr: .213
2012 May: .091

Lind has barely hit .200 over the last 5 months of baseball.
Forget his hot start to 2011... he's toast.
*****

Then he goes and makes me look bad last night!!!
But mercy... 5 straight months of hitting below .215
I just don't see how anybody could jump on a player in a slump like that.
He's been a consistently bad hitter since July 1st last year.

I agree, drop Lind unless its a VERY deep keeper league.

I am not a Lind owner in any of my leagues, but I am Jays fan and watch pretty much every game they play. It boggles my mind that a GM as smart as AA has let him go as long as he has without attempting to upgrade the 1st base position. Why they continue to run him out there day after day is a head scratcher. I would rather see them start Edwin Encarnacion at 1st base and have somone else DH'ing.

the rumor is that the vlad signing means that lind will only hit righties from now on. vlad could DH full time too if he outhits lind and put e5 at 1b. I know edwin has played first but i do not know how well he fields the position. i am in the billy beane frame of mind that most major leaguers could play first with only about a month of learning the position (hatteberg).
